TPB isn't the right place to look for mac piracy. All pirates usually need is a serial number. You get the application by downloading the demo version. (There are very regularly updated serial databases available.)
I found this paper about drug policy change in Switzerland [1] very interesting.
The country was pushed toward evidence-based policies by a very large and visible drug scene, which had serious health consequences.
Some states started trying different approaches and fueled federal debates (The US system is similar to the swiss one). They did it even as far-right parties like SVP showed increased support, which caused almost schizophrenic results. For instance in 2008 "a resounding 68 percent of the population voted in favor of the new narcotics law based on four pillars, which included heroin-assisted therapy, while in the same referendum, only 33 percent endorsed decriminalization of cannabis"

What is it for ?
You are correct.
I am from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, I started learning German in kindergarten (though those lessons were mostly useless until 7th grade). By 9th grade I had French, German, English and two options : Latin and Ancient Greek. (All students were required to stay from 8AM to 4PM at school, those who didn't study ancient languages just sat in a room guarded by a teacher whose task was to make sure they did not talk to each other too much).
In High School it was a bit different, you had to choose between German and Italian (Two of the four official languages) and between English and Ancient Greek (Yes, some people actually pick Ancient Greek) and an option, which spans from Math, Biology/Chemistry or Psychology to Latin, Spanish or Italian.
None of these choices actually restrict what you can study later in college.
I personally use firefox with pentadactyl, which by default removes the URL bar. It was a bit akward at the beginning but it's a major gain of space (especially in fullscreen mode) and there's nothing I could do with the URL bar that I can't do with keybindings.
For instance, if I want to edit the current page's url, I type "y o <cmd v>" to paste it in the status bar.
You can also find similar items using neural networks. There was an awesome talk about that at pycon 2009 : http://us.pycon.org/2009/conference/schedule/event/71/
Neural network data mining can also sometimes survive missing data or extrapolate from unknown instances.
You can also press the upper arrow to edit the last message (on mac)
I would urge you to watch this video on how these kind of claims can be made : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-QA2rkpBSY
Reminds me of this article : http://lesswrong.com/lw/3gv/statistical_prediction_rules_out... which talked about similar algorithm in statistics
