I've sat exams a few years after university (for a tentative career change) and I can tell you I'd forgotten how genuinely tiring writing so much by hand was. I've made sure to write more regularly since, just in case I change from software engineering to something that requires more handwriting.
There are also countries that reduce the time a license is valid starting at a certain age and that require a medical test for renewal at all ages. IIRC Spain does that.
It also is a situation where the ubiquity of these companies make it exceptionally difficult for parents to regulate access.
If they are liable of making the thing addictive, it does mean it is their fault. In this case, it specifically says it's designed to be addictive to children, whose personal responsibility is probably not expected.
I remember a few years back when Jon Blow (Braid, The Witness) did a few talks about the fact that the biggest progress in recent years had been in hardware performance, making lazy software development standard since the hardware made it so easy to ignore any limitations.
I'm not as much of a fan these days but I do hope these limitations have the effect of improving best practices.
I'm also on 34 keys though I might go up to 36 when the mikefive[1] comes out. I started with my mods on my thumb keys, then moved to home row mods but as I got faster (not blazing, just 60+WPM) they would often trigger accidentally.t
I ended up looking a bit more into it and stumbled upon urob's timeless home row mods[2] and they work pretty well. Have only had a couple accidental triggers but I'm pretty sure they would be better with a dedicated shift key, hence the interest in 36 keys. I might have a look at a combo to have a delay-less shift but I quite like how my layout is at the moment[3]

I'm looking at cassettes that way as well, a physical limitation to avoid instant gratification and to take my time.
You could also put a layer of vinyl on the laptop and then put the stickers on that. That way you can peel the whole thing off when you upgrade. I remembered reading about it on dev.to a few years back.

I quite like the idea of a physical keyboard on the device but I agree it's not really the best for extended typing.
It does cover the use cases I wan't from a linux hand held up to a point. If I could dock it to have a real monitor when I'm not on the go it would be perfect. Maybe through a usb-c output ? Just so I don't have to fiddle with multiple usb/hdmi cables when I want to set up

I'm pretty sure he does, his actions in government and his lobbying were specifically so he made more money. He does love the tech, though I'm not as optimistic about his love of the ideals (but that might be the socialist in me talking).
I'm am wary about how brain implants could be abused further down the line, but for now it's not the main thing I'm looking at with Neuralink. It seems to be a positive change for the patient, and if costs can be reduced to make it affordable to the masses, it can be a great thing.a

IIRC in the early 1900s, coercive methods were used to stop children speaking their native regional languages, a lot of it in school.
In my region of Brittany (France) the most famous example that was on posters detailing good manners would say : "Il est interdit de parler breton et de cracher par terre" meaning "It's forbidden to speak Breton and to spit on the ground", placing both on the same level.
Ibuprofen is anti inflammatory which paracetamol isn't. IIRC this means ibuprofen can hide infections. I had a doctor friend who avoided its use as generic pain relief for that reason.
At this point I'd settle for one where the button on top just lights up the numbers without playing awful compressed babbling brook sounds at full volume.

Yes. Looking at my country, we've applied economic liberalism without any positive results at scale. I would prefer we go back to taxing companies more, go back to taxing the rich on their assets and crack down on fiscal fraud (20B€ estimate, about 6% of the national retirement cost).
Instead the government privatizes services that used to bring a steady income and defunds hospitals, education and public research.

The mikefive is my dream work keyboard. It's two keys extra from what I have currently but I know I can find something to do with the extra cluster keys
I have a 34 key split and it's decently comfortable. I have my mods mirrored on both halves so depending on the non-mod key of the shortcut I use the opposing hand for mods.

All jokes aside, ordering small batches of PCBs is unfortunately very expensive, especially if you have a larger size.
If you ever feel the itch of going towards ergonomic split keyboards, you'll find plenty of ~40% splits that use reversible PCBs for both halves which allows for cheap batches. Typically you get 5 PCBs with JLC and that gives you enough to build one full keyboard for work and one for home.
But is it linked ? Cars have been getting bigger and bigger cars (specifically SUVs) are linked to car crashes to be more lethal.
Are total car crashes on the rise ? How does that figure compare to the amount of cars on the road ?
With a couple of friends, we did a 0 caffeine challenge for a week. First to drink any caffeinated drink would have to get the first round of drinks after work on Friday.
Knowing the first couple of days I go without coffee I'm pretty slow, I started on the Saturday rather than the planned Monday.
On Tuesday I was getting tested for Covid because I was feeling feeverish (no actual fever), had cramps and intense pain in my back. By the end of the week I was feeling a little better. On Friday, we all had a cup of coffee together, no one had lost the challenge.
All that to say that never again will I underestimate the drug.

I just tested it out and it didn't work well for me. It reliably started either on the current app or on the latest app when on the home screen but I haven't managed to change windows at all. That could be due to my weird keyboard though. It only has 34 keys and has a weird way to reach the alt key which might be messing with everything.
I'll see if I can try with a standard keyboard later.
doom emacs on termux is great ! I might try forcing a doom install through termux but if I can find a "cleaner" way, I'd rather do that. The main problem I expect to have is the lack of git outside of termux
I have a physical keyboard that I intend to have with me most of the time (a bluetooth ferris sweep that fits in my pocket when packed) so that part is solved, the config part is slightly more complicated
I'm using a physical keyboard on the nothing phone and I don't have any input lag problem. I am using it mainly for termux admittedly but I haven't perceived any in other apps.
Just need to find a way to setup doom-emacs on android and then I'm good to go !
A big part of Diablo (or at least of Diablo 3) once the story is finished is to go as far as possible in the post game features.
Most people I know who have played Diablo would tell me their rift tier, paragon level (might be a different term in English but they play in french so that's the term I know).
So for new players, it might not be that big of a deal, but for players wanting to play more Diablo the game is telling them to cough up as much as they can
There are plenty of options, however they do require at least some time and money investment.
With low-profile switches, you can have switches that are as light or heavy as you want. I guess the travel distance is what makes the feeling the most different from scissor switches.
I'm alternating between two radically different keyboards and a semi limited budget: a GMMK Pro with extremely silent heavy tactile switches (Boba U4s) and high profile keycaps, and a Ferris Sweep, split columnar ergo with Low profile switches (Choc burned orange so still heavy tactile but that's my preference).
Both are more quiet than an standard plastic rubber dome keyboard. I can hear the springs in the low profile one but it is apparently easy enough to mod, it's just not worth it to me as I don't bother my colleagues and I'm not bothered by it myself.
It seems like a lot of work is needed to emulate scissor switches but it may be worth it. Depending on your area, you might find someone willing to lend/send you a keychron low profile to try out.
I guess most people who enjoy scissor switches are content with what is already on offer.
