Passkeys bother me because they depend on the availability of another device. That just won't cut it for a lot of folks, especially people that are prone to losing devices. It's also annoying to have to deal with the 50,000 places that are fighting to keep your passkeys, leading to fragmentation and uncertainty as to where these credentials are stored.

Haphazardly implementing passkeys also has big problems - one vendor I use implemented them rather badly and randomly one day, completely removing the previously-solid password/MFA setup they had, replacing it with a "you are required to confirm on your phone with no other alternative" passkey, which was really annoying. I don't like my logins messed with. Passwords/MFA, while not perfect, work very well for most people, myself included. Passkeys still feel like they are in a very immature state.

Reddit HAD almost 20 years of comments, until about three years ago when they started to lock down APIs, remove moderators, and make poor choices. Users reacted accordingly and now you will just see a whole lot of [deleted] or comment content replaced with garbage data. It's no longer an archive or wealth of information it once was.

This is nothing but a good thing. We need respite from the chaos and unrefined unregulated slop-filled AI coding world. If you want all that, I got a product for you - GitHub.

You didn't try changing the user agent? That usually defeats whatever monopolistic mechanisms they put in place.

The edition of Minecraft on phones/tablets/etc is more locked down and limited than Java, so unfortunately your options might be somewhat limited (though not impossible).

I have run a Docker Minecraft Server (itzg/docker-minecraft-server) for years and it's been rock solid. Best part is not having to install a lot of dependencies, the image just does it all. I think they also have a Bedrock Edition server but I never got it working right (see above).

You'd need everyone to run the Java Edition on Windows/Mac/Linux systems if you want to do it with the least amount of pain. Otherwise, people are just paying for "Realms" which are hosted servers.

I disagree. When OS X went to Intel, there was an explosion of Mac games on Steam. Valve went all in with big ports of TF2 (complete with exclusive era-appropriate in-game items like the earbuds), and all their other games soon followed.

Apple self-owned themselves by slowly killing off support for this, culminating with the transition to the M chips and the upcoming removal of Rosetta to put the final nail in the coffin. Their negligence to support a major market is their downfall here. The hardware is more than willing, the software and company are causing the fumbles.

Game Porting Toolkit will be irrelevant unless it's as open and free to use as Proton is. Linux has far and away taken the lead here.

It also doesn't help that x86 compatibility is being ejected, so you can't even run basic Wine in the near future. Due to all this, there's no reason to be excited for this misguided endeavor of Apple's.

I feel this would have been incredible....in the 2014-2016 timeframe. There just isn't any room for this product anymore. Pebble was at the top of their game before Apple came in and showed them up.

This article feels like ignorance. The best "Windows Lite" is a Linux distro with VSCode, .NET, PowerShell, etc. There is no hope for improving Windows at this point.
