One would think this situation would be better documented by vendors, instead of relying on obscure incantations. But one would probably be told by Customer Services that this defect is not covered by warranty (if you still have it) and you're out of luck.

I never understood why advertisers insist on giving me "relevant" ads. I find it better if the ads are diverse and all over the place, as I discover new things. The "relevant" ads are usually about stuff I just bought, so useless to me.

I find this site insightful in terms of discovering new things. It could be made into some sort of tumbler for ads. :)

How does your setup work with a second monitor that comes and goes?

Use case: I have a laptop that I take everywhere for me, but I plug into a second monitor while at work. I also use multiple desktops, and this pattern is sometimes causing windows to jump to another desktop when disconnecting the monitor.

I'm nitpicking, but is there a reason why you use the numeric signal number in Linux? On my machine "kill -SIGSTOP" works as expected, and I don't remember a time when you couldn't use signal names like that.

Who do I tell my brand new, bright idea about IDN attack prevention?

It goes like this:

Display characters that are out of range of your selected language's character set in a different colour than the characters of your language.

That way, when you go to раураӏ.com that last character shows up in red.

Homework: select two languages (e.g. Chinese and English), and use three colours. Make the colour scheme colour-blind-friendly.

(it just came to me, I haven't thought it through; I'd rather read different coloured characters than punycode)

THANK YOU!

I had the ideas used in this project in my head, but I've been putting off the work forever now.

I LOVE YOU FOREVER for using transactions as the central operation rather than double entry accounting, and I love you even more for adding the ability to tag transactions. I can not put off work for a web interface instead, which is a lot less work to put off :)

I haven't tried it yet, but it's now high on my list for when I get home from work.

Did everybody get a takeaway shop's fan duct stuck to their wall like at my last rented flat?

It took me ages to understand why I was so stressed out until one evening I noticed things going peaceful all of a sudden. After that I became aware that the fan was running continuously from early morning to late evening, so I set to move out as soon as my term was over. Now I'm noticing that the building AC at the office is making the exact same low frequency, low amplitude hum when it's on and I get the exact same sensation of relief when it goes off.

Now, when I look at property, I also look for fan ducts on the walls. I also just realised that I should be looking for fan ducts inside walls if there's AC too...

Not sure what this means, but while I'm mining Monero on the CPU with xmr-stak the PoC is thwarted.

First, the "Direct physical map offset" comes back wrong in Demo #2. Second, if I use the correct offset, the reliability is around 0.5% in Demo #3 - but not consistently... after a few tries it did come back with >99%

Basically, screw up your caches continuously.

I for one was wondering if they spoke to their Google Go (Golang) team when they named the Go edition 'Google' app 'Google Go'. There will be some very confused users when they search for 'google go' from now on.
