Browsing the barebones site and reading the Code of Conduct, I get the sense that political activism is a higher priority than engineering. There's a dedicated BLM page, where they honor George Floyd, but not the woman who was pistol-whipped by Floyd and his crew during an armed robbery, while the woman was home alone with her children.[1] I am aware that this is wrongthink.

Americans rejected this worldview in the recent presidential election. While I have no issue with people advocating for their flavor of justice, I can't imagine this being the most savvy business decision in the current climate. I certainly would not be interested in hiring or working with an agency for whom caustic ideology appears to be more important than any other concern. Their hostility towards people with my skin color is palpable.

Even today, women don't pursue tech to the extent that men do, even with aggressive efforts to curtail this. I'm glad you're mad, but based on this comment and the rest of your comments in this thread it seems that's just your normal operating state. Your argument seems to be that unless someone uses a computer exactly as you do, and has your exact selection of knowledge in their brain, then they're incapable of sharing any knowledge at all. Furthermore, there aren't many Unix/Linux users that operate in a vacuum, and often you'll be using files with extensions that come from other OSes that use extensions; and additionally, file extensions are a useful fast way of knowing exactly what kind of data the file contains. This is great news. Hopefully the regular CNN will fold soon as well. Their target audience is Boomers, and their business model is to enrage their viewers with sensationalism or outright propaganda ("Fiery but mostly peaceful protests"), then sell them SSRIs. They are a sick organization.

Any time a website greets me with a giant page-filling banner that I can't close, or they cut off the article after a few words in order to get me to sign up, I close the tab.

I've been hearing/seeing Stephen Wolfram's name for about 2 decades. Each time I see it, it's associated with some supposed incredible breakthrough in math, science, physics, or perhaps a combination of those; and that's it. There's never any application to the real world, there's never any great discovery that enlightens or improves the common man's life. You could argue I'm not smart enough to understand his work, but I could argue he's not smart enough to make the importance of his work comprehensible to dumb people like me.

I couldn't even finish Snow Crash. The fact the protagonist's name was "Hiro Protagonist" is a good example of the intellectual tone of the novel. Every character reminded me of Poochy from The Simpsons, an over-written "edgy" anti-hero, as compelling as an episode of Saved By The Bell.
