language stringing together a series of concepts. Concepts are formed by creating a conceptual idea. These ideas are created by choosing concepts which are similar (not the same in some way). The way they are not the same is by leaving out the measurements. Which measurements are left off depends upon the concept. Ex. the concept of wavelengths leaves out the measurements of the wavelengths individually.

Therefore the language is already very imprecise to begin with. Other new concepts are created and defined by previous concepts which will be used to define the new concept.

So language is conceptual by definition. The actual definitions of concepts are the referrents of the concepts. Ex. cat means all cats which have ever lived and all cats which will ever exist. This language then is a translation from existence to a mental re-presentation of existence then is a translation from existential to a mental model. This process is VERY conservative (a compression if you wish). One 3 letter concept can re-present a memory image we have all learned and can therefore convey (? Some meaning) to another person who has learned to duplicate the process. Notice however that we each live separate lives and will have unique representations in our unique memories of which cat we think the concept represents at this moment in time.

If you think of the memory as an operating system for each one of us, then we each have to write that operating system as we live out our lives. They (OS's/minds)then are all different to begin with in an extraordinary number of ways.

So to rephrase your question, there is an illusion (only) of understanding. The question is .... is this useful and if so in what way. In my opinion it is only by a careful and slow dialogue that any real meaning or understanding is EVER transmitted between any two individuals. Maybe this imprecise off the top of my head answer will be a good example of this concept.

This brief does not even consider the slippage between the of the messages between the reader and the writer and the reader.

The concept of context alone took me 5 years to sort out before I came up with how it is established, so that I could begin to understand the problem of how and why languages work at all.

Website is older but the concepts and items you are requesting are free there.

Good researching ... well phrased and well formed question. Beliefs are at the core and their formation and motivation are key considerations. Change requires becoming aware of which beliefs are required to achieve your life's goals, plus a system of correcting them as they are discovered. Emotion is part of the difficulty since we are basically emotional beings, with a recently added rational cortex. So being able to become emotionally literate is a requirement of solving these kinds of issues in our childhood programming.

Anything one human can do another can do as well. Only the time to master the skills might differ. it is the pattern of thought which enables the completion of mental tasks. Learning them takes time and persistence and the motivation to stick with the task. Sometimes one or the other of these requirements are missing in a persons background due to faulty instructions during childhood. Defining which tasks are missing and correcting the behavior will result in success or an emotionally created stuck spot in the strategy. This can be fixed by thinking carefully about how the person achieves the failure and replacing that strategy with a successful one. One method of doing the discovery is to simply type out the internal dialog verbatim and correcting that dialog, or the conclusions of the dialog, which will be the limiting instruction.

The human learning system has a major flaw. The first 5 years of human learnings are based on emotion, and contain most of the automatic emotional response system used thruout the rest of your life. Many of the instructions you learned were meant as momentary instructions, but were highly emotional as well, and as a result are remembered as important and therefore used over and over again thruout the rest of your life time. These emotional reactions are known as Injunctions. These are often intended to limit your behavior and they will continue to limit your behavior in particular ways until you change them. Your conscious mind will not become aware of these limiting behaviors because the fact that the limit of consciousness is only 5 to 7 chunks of data at any one time. In addition, your conscious mind works to achieve the unconscious goals of your early emotional learnings, unless you make conscious goals to direct the activities of the unconscious.

So the bottom line is you have two methods of thinking. Emotional and Cognitive and they are not aware of one another due to the evolutionary nature of our brains development process. This means that the learnings of childhood run the show based on reactions learned very early and they are often not functional as an adult. Fixing them is the task of trained therapists. I recommend Transactional Analysis. it deals with teasing out the old, dis functional, emotional, irrational behavior and the decisions which describe their reasoning, which will be discovered to be childlike. New decisions supported by current adult observations will correct the limiting behavior and replace it with more resourceful reprogramming.

This is quick and instantly gratifying and is goal directed by the Patient/customer. The only function of the therapist is to insure the fastest and most helpful changes, along with permission and protection for the client during the change process. Good luck

Go to a Tranactional Analysis therapist. The will help you figure out how you stop your self from succeeding. Your language is a clue. The term try, psychologically speaking means "Permission to fail". TA is simple and quick. I am a therapist and I can vouch for their model being easy to understand, effective and quick. Your own desire and clarity will be very useful to help speed your learnings along. Good luck in your quest.

Gentlemen, this is about the nature of selling. First the word incorrectly infers something you do to other folks over which they have little control, providing that you select the proper words which magically enables that amazing feat to occur. Allowing you to simply charm them into giving you money for your wares. Pure BS as any thinking person can readily see.

The fact of the matter is, the customer has all of the power to decide and to pay. Your job as a salesman, is to avoid cluttering the offer with unnecessary information which can slow down or stop the person from making a decision to purchase your wares. That is exactly what Benjamin Franklin learned to do, in the little parable.

He simply made himself the messenger from a group of intelligent folks, who were in fact offering the services, which would create a desirable effect for them, which the subscribers then decided was to their benefit.

I might add that the offer would be defined as a win-win in present day terms. Personally, I might also add that it is really a win win win, since society as a whole I believe benefits from a more enlightened society.

Salesmanship has taken a bad rap from those who misunderstand the facts. You see ... sell'in ain't tell'in it's ask'in. ....
