No I am serious, if you are comparing murders, you should include all weapons!

There are regional differences! Fire arms are heavily regulated and relatively hard to get in EU. We are close to war zones, hand grenades are easier to smuggle, and are used in Sweden.

If you include murders by knife, London is worse than US!

Edit: also you wrote "assault" that could include anything from armed robbery without health injury, to self defense. Apples and oranges!

15-year-old Hassan... region of Pakistan.

That is not underage work in Pakistan! "Respected" jurnalists should bother to do minimal research! I wish I had similar gig, instead of working for 50 cents/hour at building site!

Article 11.3 of the Constitution of Pakistan says " No child below the age of fourteen years shall be engaged in any factory or mine or any other hazardous employment.

Ok, imagine following scenario:

- You started using product

- One year latter ASF stops existing, apache.org returns 404 or viagra ads.

- Two years latter, original FSL gets terminated, your new license for that software are 404 errors or viagra ads. You now have no license and should stop distribution!

Think what you want, software under FSL is on my ban list.

Yes, they could put extra paragraphs that become valid after 2 years, that would be OK.

But the way it is written, it changes existing license! Effectively making a new release! You can not do that in EU, what if user does not agree with the new licence? It is quite illegal in most EU countries!

You can not swap licenses like that! Many scammers do that, and there are strong pro-consumer laws to prevent that!

What is worse, it even terminates old license after two years! Really really stupid lawyer worked on this!

Here is the text:

On the second anniversary of the date we make the Software available, the Software will become available under the Apache 2.0 license. On that date, the Terms and Conditions above automatically terminate and the following terms become effective:

I am not sure this is legal in my country!

In Czechia "release" is a legal act done by author(or right holder). You can do it by uploading code on Github etc.. But it is something author did themselfs.

You can not perform legal act (releasing) with extra conditions like a delay. Either you did it or not!

For the same reason you can not put extra conditions in Last Will (house is yours, but you have to take care of my cats). That part is simply not enforceable and gets ignored by notary!

So I am worried, clause about Apache license is invalid, and software may get forever stuck under less permisive license!

And is that really a problem?

Infrastructure ages and needs to be refreshed. Look at NYC, how old "land improvements" get stuck.

Money do expire! There is inflation...

I would like similar system for land ownership and buildings. Property taxes at level of 5%. In China land can not be owned, but only leased for 70 years.

At home I have a small server farm of cheap Ryzen PCs. Mostly continuous integration and testing for open source projects, but also some LLM.

If I have some idea, I just throw it into farm and see results a few days later. It is slower than renting in cloud, bit about 4x cheaper.

It also heats my house a bit in winter...

With LLM I could rephrase my argument, in away that you would actually listen. Right now you just filter it out, because it does not fit your narrative and social circle. It gives me a chance to fit it, and speak your "English dialect" without being offensive. In-group bias is a huge wall, LLM eliminates that.

Trust me, LLM is great for filtering bullshit. Sentiment analysis, cross checking references, short summaries, ad filtering... You can filter BS on industrial scale with LLM!

By "intelligent" people I meant current elites with platform of universities, news media... Thay have very bad track record of lying and corruption.

they will generate text that is super-persuasive without being intelligent

What we need to regulate is the bullshit.

Feeling bit threatened, are we? We have complete democratisation of "BS" (marketing, propaganda...). Now every scammer with Nigeria can compete with top universities and think tanks, without being "intelligent".

Something like that happened when Samuel Colt invented his revolver. Every person could defend themselfs. Overnight it become very unwise to randomly attack people! Total democratisation of violence!

"Intelligent" people will have to drop their shilling for latest fad, will have to build some credibility, reputation and personal brand!

We Need Taiwan 3 years ago

We are 18 months into war, but electric grid and rail network are still functional. You can go to Kiev for weekend break from Poland in overnight train...

We Need Taiwan 3 years ago

I don't really understand why China would even invade Taiwan. They would be killing "their own" people, and destroying "their own" infrastructure (by their perception).

Much better option is some sort of economic war, sanctions, naval blockade... US is importing a lot from China, even factories in Mexico are just assembling Chinese parts.

I do not think support for Taiwan would survive for very long.

Please tell me what "mildly unconfortable" solution is there for stage 4 cancer that *metastases* into brain? I only know of chemotherapy!

People try diets (I prefer extended water fasting), because it affects everything! If cancer had spread into entire body, it is the only option, where you may keep your hair, and some sort of normal life!!

It is also for free and does not bancrupt your family!

Edit: I read the extract from study, keto was used AFTER chemotherapy to speedup recovery. Still, post chemo is nothing "mildly unconfortable".

Three months after the cessation of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, a ketogenic diet (KD) was initiated. This approach was an attempt to stabilize the disease progression after chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
