Strangely enough, they're not asking, but rather threatening users/potential customers , asking at least my day job company to pay up (and it's not cheap - they push for the 1kusd/user deal) or they will cut off access. The language used by the salesperson is surreal, basically stating that shelling out a hefty sum of money is nothing. It feels (I'm not saying it's their intent, their salesperson might just not be very good at selling anaconda ) like bullying so we're therefore looking for ways to get rid of it completely.

I fully appreciate the fact that they're running a business, but I've seen better ways of starting commercial relationships!

If any of the continuum folks are around, I'd be happy to hear more about this.

On a more general note, I hope this kind of thing doesn't make life harder for people working in large corps - one of my colleagues was expecting legal to clamp down on anything open source (I know, this is not the point but it unfortunately doesn't matter ) , since 'it's obvious that it can become a costly liability'.
