You can't, but that's not really the point. The point is that it's not permanent in a form that other users can access. Sure, maybe Snapchat stores every picture I ever sent. That sucks and should stop. But at least Grandma can't go back and look at some 2 year old picture I took with some buddies.

Increased connection with peers, for one. It's incredibly easy to network now. I'm young, and wasn't around for what you're looking back on as the good old days, but I disagree that there is no value to being able to send a one off "look what I'm doing" to a friend.

In their defence, reCaptcha are fairly ubiquitous. Very difficult to avoid.

My father is very conservative on most issues, where I am very liberal on most issues. We still get along perfectly because politics is not that important. He's still my dad, still a great person, and still an exceedingly good debater.

I think it has to do with how integral computers are to every other field. Like if everything deeply depended on woodworking to function, carpenters would be offering input on everything.

I think part of it is someone sees a question and thinks "Well why didn't you just google xyz?" without realizing that the only way to know to google xyz is to already know the answer to the question posed.

The only issue I have with spotlight on El Capitan is a strange issue where sometimes after entering the first character the cursor jumps to start again and overwrites the first character, turning a search for "text" which should open TextEdit to "ext" which opens Extractor.

I'm actually having a decent bit of fun with this. The problems aren't challenging by a long shot (at least not yet), but I'm enjoying myself.

Not explicitly, but the difference in "assert their opinions as 'facts'" and "phrase their informative messages as suggestions, offers, and other non-assertive acts." is certainly, in my eyes at least, offering a judgement on which is better.

In response to 2)

I would say the best way (from Google's perspective) would be a way to flip a switch on a per-email basis. So by default, emails aren't secure, but if you need it you can activate it. I wonder if the loss of data would be worth the increase in users though.
