Nobody here is talking about the fact that a significant number of users want apps, too.

End users, for the most part don't know what they want. They take when makes sense to them. To end users apps are easy. To us, a URL is easy.

But the tech illiterati exist, and they love apps.

Many in Canada have no broadband options. My gf has this because otherwise, no internet access. Even cellphone reception is spotty where she is in rural Canada.

Similar story. I did have a pro subscription as a trial. I'm finding the free tier is as good(for my purposes) as the paid model.

I use the trust but verify method. Build in snippets, review what AI spits out and chive on if it meets my satisfaction. I cannot blindly write something with AI and utilize it.

Keeping build in steps keeps me as well as AI focused.

What is the use case?

I worked R&D on LoRa project a few years ago. Their use case was a long-range emergency communication system for workers in remote areas(no wifi, lte or LEO at that time). Now I see a bunch of applications in this field that aren't what you describe. :)

MacOS IMHO is no longer a viable OS for people like us(who know what this website even is). MacOS26 along with Windows11 are enshittifying and in some ways it's glorious to see. I do feel bad for non-IT people though, Linux is daunting to them...I get it.

I read elsewhere this may be partial reason why BC forged ahead. As Canada/US relationship is on the rocks and BC stopped waiting for the US to change.
