Adam I completely agree. Markdown is fantastic at something. That something is non-complex documents. What has happened since is that techies have taken that non-complex use case for the tech and made the logical leap that it is somehow a leas complex tool for complex cases. In other words "average users will understand this". The average user likely will for the most basic case and then will be thrust upon a poorly standardized, often needlessly complex hash of a markup extension set for anything more complex. All of this energy at the expense of HTML gaining more users and or web based WYSIWYGs being refined to the point of awesomeness.

We used to use a hosting company Layered Tech that had a HIPPA compliant offering. If you need HIPPA compoanxe I suggest getting it as a managed service.

I'm not sure Fresh Prince is a good example. Fresh prince had a huge following amongst all types of people and was specifically created to show another type of African american social exprience much like the Cosby Show. Both show an aspect of reality though, people tend to have friends that look like themselves.

African Americans are just over 12% of the population. The average adult has how many "friends" and how many of those are spouses of other friends and friends of family? I think that even if we there was zero racism people would still tend towards marrying those similar to ourselves. On a back of the napkin calculation this means any group might have less friends of other groups based on the overwhelming influence of family and friends of siblings and such alone. I think we have to look deeper than this stat.

My objection to Markdown is that its just a proxy for something else and only fixes a very limited set of HTML issues. If you have to learn Markdown you may as well learn HTML. The security issues need to have pressure applied to the browsers to fix.

Front end is harder because success is less objective. I think that backend has for more technically difficult problems, but if you want a straight answer to this question without lots of caveats then front end is harder.

Correct, I was a bit too narrow with my criticism. This article is a complete mess, not just that one phrase. It adds very little to a discussion of this topic and is all around poorly formed as is foreshadowed by a poor phrase choice early in the article.

Have you read the rest of the submission? It is likewise a bit of a mess. I believe that my assessment informed partly by this item was more or less accurate.
