1-2 years ago someone posted here (or on Reddit?) an air quality monitoring device with a beautiful UI that was available for purchase for something like $300-400 USD. The onboard display showed a graph of AQI with a small knob to scroll through history. The sensors used were far more sensitive than most consumer products at that pricepoint.

This was something someone had made and was selling through their own site. Anyone remember this? I'm unable to find it.

This will sound very familiar to anyone who read Neal Stephenson's Termination Shock. The picture of Pinatubo was too much.

I miss rdio so much...

One of rdio's feature I miss the most is their friend view. Not only would you see what friends were currently listening too, but a full history of songs.

If I was in a mood for something knew, I'd look at Joe's feed, because I knew he was always hunting great new indie bands. If I wanted obscure world music, I'd see what Sam had been listening to, and so on.

It was so simple, but worked so well.

These days Spotify just shows me what people are currently listening to. It requires people to make a playlist (and share it) if you want a similar experience.

Lost Art Press is great, but not exactly for the beginner. I'm a huge fan of The Wood Whisperer aka Marc Spagnuolo (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheWoodWhisperer). He has a lot of content on YouTube that's significantly higher production quality than everyone else, and most importantly he's very good at teaching.

His Shaker Table project was my first "real" piece of furniture that I built. I've since graduated to designing and building my own furniture. Highly rewarding, and I owe a lot of my skills to Marc's wonderful teaching methods.

Look at some of the other products Teenage Engineering has produced. They have a crank control for the OP-1 (https://teenage.engineering/products/op-1/accessories) plus other LEGO accessories.

I think Marc Spagnuolo (the Wood Whisperer) belongs on the top of this list. Wonderful content and teaching style that helped me go from a noob to producing quality hardwood furniture in a matter of months.

Recently finished reading Semiosis by Sue Burke (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35018907-semiosis) that's a great fictional fictional exploration of this taken to extremes. Highly recommended.
