Blocking Kiwifarms 4 years ago

They have been broken, by anonymous or nearly anonymous people, constantly, distributed throughout the world behind multiple proxies.

Sorry dude, we're not gonna wait 3 to 50 months for law enforcement to sort gradually through the trail of bodies.

Like oh I'm just doing crimes using your delivery service, I'm just doing crimes in your restaurant, I'm just doing crimes in your day care, and if you believe in free speech you have to let me keep doing the crimes it until you petition the US government to compose a task force

The express claim was that "sanctions will not be targeted at everyday Russian people, only the oligarchs"

This shit isn't even targeted at the oligarchs, only Russian people

Why do you think this regime exists?? Do you think it's the expression of the will of the Russian people? Please, I beg of you, learn a little bit about the dismantling of the Soviet Union and the brazen interference in their elections by western powers, for the purposes of violently suppressing dissent against the bandits who are in charge today.

Also, I don't know what country you're in, but there is a HIGH chance that you do NOT want to be held accountable for the crimes it committed and will continue to commit.

This whole debacle is just proof that Namecheap will make hasty, marketing-based decisions based on the whim of the CEO.

It's no longer a reliable platform, or rather it never was.

You're hurting a lot of people who are using foreign services because they want to limit their exposure to Putin's regime.

The Russian state doesn't use Namecheap. Do you really think the negatives could be outweighed by some positive here?

But very few people injured in car accidents are permanently paralyzed.

There are only 17k people per year who receive any kind of spinal cord injury, from all sources, not just cars.

That means you could even count all spinal injuries as a death!! If every person with a spinal injury somehow just died, it would still be a smaller problem than COVID deaths.

COVID would still be 7 or 8 times worse than these theoretically extra-deadly roads. Even if Long COVID didn't exist, the deaths alone would blow it out of the water.

A lot of the original Blizzard people have said the company's just dead - it's Activision now. Everything and everyone that made Blizzard good has gone. And it shows - they're botching games in ways completely uncharacteristic of the old company. Not even a vague sense of culture made it through to the new company.

And mark my words, this won't be the last instance of severe employee mistreatment and harassment.

You could probably get around this by

A) labelling 1-2 review items with "needs more reviews" message

Or B) not giving an aggregate review score for low review items. Actually replacing the review star bar with "needs more reviews". Then when the user goes from the listing page to the detail page, you can show the reviews next to a message saying "this item only has a few reviews, so we can't be sure they're accurate until more people chime in"

Sure I'll bite, none of what you said is true, in either timing or circumstances.

-They didn't go to Lemmygrad

-No definition of leftism would exclude the very leftist people who went over to Hexbear, the Lemmy instance for exiled r/Chapotraphouse posters

-they don't seem to be particularly into anime

-they are very into left politics, socialism, trade unionism, anti-imperialism, and so on. So like they are left-wing

Reddit banned the main catch-all leftist subs, and all of the accounts that posted there are now not allowed to congregate in a subreddit or it will be banned, and they can't create subreddits, regardless of what they actually posted

I mean even the US president was banned for "violence" despite asking rioters to go home

So if I was to try to get you killed on this forum but then my next post said "violence is bad though" would that make the first part go away?

I didn't misread it at all.

1. You are trying to shift blame away from Tesla and onto the drivers

2. Tesla is doing the same thing by pretending not to understand the brains of carbon based life forms, hoping most people accept it on face value and don't think too hard.

Placing the issue on individual psychology: "why did this guy shoot his own head on purpose, why did this guy drive drunk"

instead of on fundamental human psychology: "oh surely the drivers will simply take over control instantly and without warning after staring straight and doing nothing for 2 hours"

...is the whole problem. They need to consult psychologists instead of crying that they aren't responsible for their own system design.

So it's entirely Tesla's fault. They aren't making cars for Lt. Commander Data. They're making cars for human beings

It's not "doing a stupid thing" though

Fundamentally any life form has a slower reaction when they have to notice an issue and start to take motor control. Versus already being in control and simply not causing the issue.

They are not just "an EV company" they are making a guidance system for thousands of high speed metal death machines. They BETTER consult some psychologists. This is a really bizarre thing to say.

Amazing guide. Explains a ton of seemingly abstract concepts in clear, concrete terms.

I'm going to share this around and encourage others to do the same.
