If Stack Overflow's enterprise knowledge management systems were breached then that could potentially be a big deal. A release of knowledge on development and production systems from companies could potentially lead to larger hacks in the future.
Of course, that is all speculative until the extent of the breach is released. From the press release, they seem to imply that the only affected areas were public facing.

Probably a minor quibble, as I do agree with the thesis to some degree, but the quote from Marcus Aurelius is utterly false. There is no such quote in Meditations at all[0], though Aurelius is a huge proponent of moving away from external distractions to concentrate on building yourself up.
Indeed, he would probably agree with the article ("make time for yourself to learn something worthwhile; stop letting yourself be pulled in all directions" (Book 2:7)), but would rail against putting in a false statement ("The human soul degrades itself... when it puts on a mask and does or says something artificial or false." (Book 2:16)
Congrats to EventBrite on choosing to go public, but I think a congratulations is in order for their 2017 sales team.
More than 95% of creators who used our platform in 2017 signed themselves up for Eventbrite. In 2017, we derived 54% of our net revenue from these creators.
Selling to about 35,000 creators (700,000 total) for 46% of the profit is no small chore, and, in my mind, speaks to a highly effective sales strategy. It also partially explains why LiveNation is not taking a "create your own event online" approach: direct sales can be more profitable.
There have been reports of toxic management [0] and at least one suicide attempt over the years [1], which indicates that the problem is not purely on the warehouse floor.

I have looked into Mastadon several times, and I still don't understand what problem it is trying to solve.
* Replacing Twitter -- Part of the appeal of Twitter is that it __is__ centralized. I can find and discover arbitrary tweets or threads by popular people all in one place. On Mastadon, I, presumably, have to explore several different servers in order to find the people I want to follow, which throws up barriers against something Twitter does really well.
* Creating interesting communities that can interact with each other -- See IRC, Slack, Reddit, forums, Wordpress blogs, etc.
Honest question: what problem are they solving, and/or why should I use Mastadon instead of older platforms such as IRC or Reddit?
In my own experience, as I have not found a way to transfer other people's physical pain unto myself, there are two types of pain: the pain from working your muscles, and the pain from doing something wrong.
The first thing that you should learn when doing a new exercise is what the difference between these two pains are. Then, when performing more rigorous forms of the same exercise, you can establish where you can push through the pain. Is the pain you are feeling exhaustive? Push through. Is the pain something foreign? STOP IMMEDIATELY.
This, I think, is one of the reasons why it is suggested to do a lighter exercise before engaging in the intense stuff. As well, you don't run the risk of learning the difference between the two pains too late into the exercise. In general it follows along with the trite quotes: "You have to learn to walk before you can run," and "Start slow to go fast."
There is no age-restriction on wisdom and knowledge, and the words on a page are only as much as you give them credit for. If you can't ever listen to the words of a 20 year old, then, by all means, go right ahead and dismiss them, but you could miss out on some great ideas.
I do agree that you are more likely to get better life advice from those with a wealth of experience, but youth is hardly a reason to discredit anyone's words.
