Super interesting - friend is on a Adderall and Trazedone stack for energy/focus + sleep aid. Amitriptyline looks very interesting though I don't think they've tried that.

Thanks for the information, it's such a frustrating condition with a dearth of good information and research.

Super interesting - my friend has ME/CFS and/or Fibromyalgia and started GLP-1 but seemed to get only the negative side effects and not much benefit. Using Zepbound specifically.

Is the Modafinil used for alertness or a different off label purpose? I'm always interested in potential helpful interventions.

There are three knots I use that have covered all my needs as a casual camper:

Taut-line hitch

Sliding knot for fastening loads or setting guy-lines https://www.netknots.com/rope_knots/tautline-hitch

Bowline

Essential general knot for tying a loop. https://www.netknots.com/rope_knots/bowline

Square Knot

Used for joining ropes or just an easy to unite knot. For joining ropes you could do a sheet bend which is stronger https://www.netknots.com/rope_knots/square-knot

There are a billion options so I recommend just picking a few and practicing until you can tie them quickly without references. You'll start to understand hope knots in general work and be able to pick up other knots much easier.

Generally there Firms prize "first principles" thinking and don't put a ton of effort into leveraging previous engagements. Think of it like how engineers will throw out a solution and rebuild it rather than understand and build upon it.

It is also quite difficult to surface useful information amongst all the noise in the giant archive of documents

The whole fanbase is wondering the same! They have done a variety of multimedia experiences beyond light shows at their festivals and New Years Eve shows so are no strangers to using different tech.

The most interesting thing will be how the improvisation is handled. A large chunk of Phish shows are all improvised which means no pre-programmed visuals. This is very different to U2 which has the entire show planned and programmed.

I'm guessing they are thinking of a scenario where SELECT * FROM User_Details gets sent directly to the front end.

So even if all you are displaying is the users name or initials you would still be sending things like SSN and credit card number to the front end

I'd say a more accurate metaphor would be "I'm in debt and decided to ignore my biggest high interest loan in order to fully pay off my smallest low interest loan so I feel good about something"

Sure it's good you have less debt but while you were resolving the small loan you were racking up massive interest on the big one

Genuinely curious - how would you go about getting the parts and building something like a Bottle head amp? I been eyeing them up for a while and think the appeal is that they package everything up nicely, like buying a Lego kit. I assumed there was a standard "audiophile mark up" which sounds like it might be higher than I thought!

Does your daily routine change when you microdose? Do you still take the cold shower and meditate and all that regardless of it being a microdose day or not?

I found that when I was microdosing it made me way more mindful and apt to make "good/healthy" choices than normal. I think this is a tremendous benefit but for me very difficult to differentiate from a placebo effect.

The argument is usually that a license mechanism involves a registry and that the government having a list of every gun owner will lead to them taking citizens guns away or otherwise further restrictions.

I've also tried microdosing for a few weeks and generally agree with your take. However I still don't feel confident gauging how much placebo effect is part of it.

Approaching microdosing as you mention (and as I did) - with a clear goal and very intentionally is the key. But I could never really tell if I made the choices I wanted (not eating a candy bar or something) because the LSD was affecting my thinking or because I had taken the time to set my intentions clearly for the day. Would doing the ritual of microdosing but not taking the LSD have the same effect? I'm not sure. I found the LSD acts as a symbol and a way to signify the day as meaningful and keep my intentions top of mind. Parsing out what part of "success" was attributable to the chemicals and what was attributable to the ritual is very difficult. But in the end, does it matter how it works if it helped change habits?

Steel vs wood doesn't really matter. The key to soundproofing is having sound absorbing mass in between walls. As long as you fill the gaps between drywall with a decent amount of insulation it should be reasonably sound proof.

In fact many professional "sound absorbing panels" you might see in a recording studio or on the walls of movie theaters are made from insulation.

True but hardware makes it obvious why the image looks the way it does and is consistent. Photographers can even tell what lenses were used for a photo by looking at it.

Software makes it more of a black box. The same picture taken days apart could look different due to a software update you weren't even aware of. Hardware is also a forced choice so is more deliberate which again is the opposite of the software situation of changing algos and processing.

Something about vinyl specifically is the fact that there is a real break in the album when one side ends. It requires some thought and gives an additional aspect to artists when creating the track listing.

For example, "Stairway To Heaven" is the last track on the first side of Led Zeppelin IV. If you listen on Spotify the song hits the (overplayed) epic climax, smooth come down and ends with some haunting vocals. Then immediately the jaunty bop of Misty Mountain Hop comes on all bouncing around the room in a totally contrasting upbeat mood. Very jarring.

It is very obvious these were planned to the end of one side and the beginning of another. When Stairway ends I need a minute to breathe and take it in before moving on. With a vinyl record this is planned for and intended by the artist, but on any other medium (save cassettes maybe) you lose this capability.

Brands of cars are still very obvious with badging and model names. They could be identical vehicles but people will still use the more expensive version to signal.

This is all anecdotal but I have multiple friends who smoke regularly for years. I would consider them heavy smokers, think 5+ joints a day. Once their states had recreational or easily obtainable medicinal marijuana and the retail shops that come with it they quickly started moving into the concentrates and waxes. Now they regularly are going through grams of concentrates and going back to their previously "heavy-use" of 5 joints a day would barely scratch their itch.

The availability of vape pens also makes it REALLY easy to end up smoking way more than you would otherwise and as an easy way to start smoking in general. I smoke and enjoy the convenience of pens but they are perfect tools for increasing cannabis consumption in a population.

It is almost as if flower based cannabis is a gateway drug to these concentrated forms and I think it is really easy to go down that path as an already regular user. It's more economical, potentially better for you (less smoking) and now very easy to obtain.

I think the "overton window" of cannabis use is being shifted to the heavier end. Casual users will probably stay about the same but regular and heavier users will all shift to more or higher potency consumption.

I agree 100% with the potency concerns. Many of the studies showing negative impact were using standards like "10 joints a day" which was easy to dismiss as that was an unreasonable amount of weed for most people. Now with wax, tinctures and 20%+ THC strains becoming the normal it seems really easy for many people to be hitting those previously unrealistic dosages.

Calling this racist seems applicable but quite a stretch to me.

From the article is seems workers in Taiwan work 12 hour days as normal. Couple that with the fact that manufacturing used by primarily US being done outside US borders is generally some for cost saving reasons and it seems to make sense to assume that Taiwan IS doing this cheaper somehow. If it were a matter of innovation wouldn't the same innovation hold in their new plant in Arizona?
