I really cannot believe what I am reading in this thread.

It’s pretty trivial to setup a debugger in most IDE’s these days and share a config with your team.

Print logging falls flat on its face in async systems.

I feel like the ven diagram of people using text editors as a replacement for IDE’s and people doing print logging must be a circle.

I enjoy working with typescript as an alternative to JS.

Recently was working on Deno project and not having to worry about esm vs commonjs was so so nice.

I am glad you found fulfillment in reproduction, many people don’t feel that way.

Personally I am capable of self improvement without adding another hungry mouth to an already dying planet.

Future generations won’t have to support me in old age because I am not an 18th century farmer and have plenty saved for that time in my life.

Having children is a choice, or at least it should be.

Clearly it is in peoples best interests to not have children these days.

If you choose to have a child that’s great, hopefully you have the means to raise them.

Looking forward to the day when we start giving people tax breaks for not having kids.

Or a decent paperback novel.

Reading long form content on a screen gives me awful eyestrain.

Plus I love the smell of a good book.

Sure, not trying to criticize you, but it has been on the news pretty much daily for the last year and crypto ads dominated the super bowl.

If you find yourself in a space where you aren’t exposed to it at all that’s fine, but I would say it is definitely not the norm for people working in tech these days.

Indy games are in a golden age right now. Small teams are building stellar titles and making tons of money in the process.

Most of the horror stories you are hearing from the gaming industry are coming from large multinational studios, many of which are struggling financially.

Just look at the most recent battlefield release or cyberpunk for examples of what happens when you don’t value QA.

That’s interesting.

Is it really a problem that requires manually writing the code? Seems like there should be more elegant solutions by this point.

What is the intended use for LaTex these days?

I’m not trying to flame, I just have no idea why anyone would choose to use it over html/css or just a word processor.

When your reputation is already rock bottom you have nothing left to lose.

I stopped using YouTube a while back when it decided that because I like programming, video games, and martial arts I would also enjoy misogynistic pricks like Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro.

There is something deeply flawed in YouTube’s recommendations, and despite my effort to curate content it kept driving me towards alt-right drivel.

HN’s track record on stuff like this is really bad.

This is a place to get interesting news on startup valuations, Rust, and what the current FE framework of choice is.

For everything else it might as well be Reddit.

Besides it being a propaganda piece for the current darling of the alt-right demographic?

I would encourage you to read it, but is honestly not worth the time.
