Do they?

I am saying out of the top of my mind but I would guess that in the case of owls they have evolved to be nocturnal. So their physiology is problably synchronized to natural light but in way that keep their activity nocturnal.

Hamsters are also nocturnal but you can force them to be diurnal in lab settings, but their physiology is at a constant jet lag state.

RSS is awesome 11 months ago

Is there any RSS reader that is also able to subscribe to newsletters in some way? There are lot of contents that are only provided as newsletters nowadays and I wanted to be able to read my feed and newsletters in the same app, without going into my mail inbox.

Blue wavelength does have an effect on sleep. The photoreceptors linked to the suppression of melatonin are most sensitive to blue light. And melatonin is associated with the sleep-cycle regulation.

The thing I wanted to do was science. I did a bachelor's and recently finished a master's in ecology (academic, I am not in the US). However, I was constantly anxious and in financial distress because, well, academia is not really financially stable and I do not have anyone to fall back to. So I decided to move into programming because it pays better and the job is, in comparison to academia, financially more stable so you won't run out of funds in a couple of years.

The thing is I really like programming and tinkering with computers (it was a big part of my masters) so it is a job I really like doing. However, there was something in research that made my mind itches when you got to follow your own questions and get a glimpse of an animals' life.

In the end, I am still torn out a bit about wanting to go back to academia or pursuing other career paths and I tough it resonated with your quote.

Gnome 40 5 years ago

yeah, that is one of the things I do after a fresh install. I am using Nextwaita from gnome-looks. It changes very little from the vanilla gnome, except for a slighter grey color scheme and less padding.

I'd say that one is studying a plant and its interaction with the environment/other organisms whether the other is more interested in the inner works of a fungi. It is a matter os perspective, one is doing ecology and the other one is more weighted to genetics.
