Very interesting. As with anything like this it would take time for adoption of the new hardware. Also for smaller local businesses to implement it they would need their own app, and their customers would have to care enough about their specific store to install the app. Larger chains would benefit more from this possibly. However most of the people shopping at the larger chains would most likely be running Android, and probably a version prior to 4.3.

There are quite a few barriers to this becoming a big deal, but I am curious where it will go, and if it can be used for things besides welcome messages when you enter a store.

I don't believe this guy. His original filing was ridiculous, and now he thinks he is a victim? He talks about all the books he has written and how smart he is, and yet all the evidence I see in this whole situation doesn't really speak to that intelligence.

I am glad he has finally dropped everything. Some charities even got some funds from the situation so I guess it wasn't all bad.

The whole situation would have been completely different if people waited for some context and explanation. Unfortunately pre-judging people based on quick first impressions is something pretty much everyone does. Some are just more vocal about it.

I quit browsing Reddit because of the comment sections.

I personally just use Gmail's web interface when on my computer and the Gmail apps when on my phone or tablet. Even when I worked for an enterprise facing company where everyone used Outlook (and had for years) I used the Gmail web interface/apps since the company used Google Apps.

I've just always felt that a desktop client just adds another layer where things can go wrong.

It seems like someone who makes decisions for DivX got a bit greedy. I am curious why Bing though? It seems to me like all the shady "Install this too?" dialogs are for Bing toolbars and such.

My opinion is that this will only hurt those devs who would rather push ads to people in shady ways than pull people into their app with a design and functionality worth opening more than once. If I ever happen upon an app that does either of the things Google is killing off I immediately get rid of it anyway. I don't see how this is a negative thing at all.

This is an excellent writeup, and one that I have a few friends that could benefit from. I try to tell people that it is the little things you do every day that add up to big change. My friends mostly have this idea that you have to make huge sweeping changes to your life to see any results at all, but that is simply false. Start going on a walk or jog every evening instead of sitting in front of the television. Start having nuts instead of candy bars for snacks. Stuff like that adds up quick to some pretty impressive results.

Excellent read, and keep up the good work!

This is very interesting to me. I started Russian and decided I should learn French before Russian so I didn't have to do as much with the alphabet. However I always get busy and stop for just long enough to forget most of what I learned. I will be eagerly watching for reviews of the process from people who have gone through it.

Site looks good, but I think some review of the readability of the bigger paragraphs could be done. Specifically the bullet points on the Guarantee page are a bit difficult to read. Also they are formatted different between Our Promise and Your Commitment, which you may have a good reason for.

I use weight lifting as a way to release any frustrations or anything. Its a great way to get my mind off of things for a while. Im 6'2". At 18 I weighed 165. Now at 24 I weigh around 240 with not a little fat. I'm not cut or anything, but you can tell my bulk isn't just fat.

I understand not getting why people want muscle. I don't understand why people want excessive amounts of muscle (read pro bodybuilders). I do however enjoy the feeling of having greater than normal muscle mass, in and out of the gym. In the gym it feels great to be able to lift decent amounts of weight. Outside of the gym I find a certain amount of respect received for having more muscle. Like the article pointed out about the people on the sidewalk, people give you more space. On the functional side of things I enjoy playing physical sports when I can such as football and more-physical-than-it-should-be Ultimate Frisbee. Even in sports like disc golf though having extra muscle means I can throw farther etc. I also am able to help friends move, do any heavy lifting family members need done, etc.

I could probably go on but I think the main thing is that it depends on your lifestyle. I will say this though: I didn't know how handy having muscle could be until I started building.

That's only one small part of the story. I think the main thing here is that he had an app that he worked on that was rejected because Apple felt nobody wanted it, and then a few months later Apple releases pretty much the same thing itself and everyone loves it.

I chuckled when I got to the bottom of the post and saw the Windows Phone fighting wedding commercial.

It seemed like every time Google announced something yesterday they mentioned that it was part of Play Services and would be updated by Google instead of OEMs. Every time they said that I kept thinking "BRILLIANT"!
