It might be to you, but I don't follow your generalization. I spend a lot of time online and personally wouldn't shed a tear if YouTube stopped existing tomorrow. Not because I feel any animosity towards the platform, but because video content is of limited use to me. It is not an essential, and irreplaceable part of the internet. Also, to go back to the original argument, nobody is talking about taking YouTube offline.

Doesn't that depend on the implementation? Don't get me wrong, I am also highly skeptical about governments or businesses using means like age verification to pursue an agenda of broadly restricting access to what should be free information - but I also see the current state of major social media platforms as deeply harmful to society, and I do think it would be better if young teenagers did not have access.

This seems to be the latest attempt of the conservative CDU to further reduce transparency and accountability of government officials. One could posit the goal is to enable corruption without all that hassle of the media potentially finding out about it.

Yeah it's crazy, in every post about Germany inevitably the nuclear phase out will get brought up and the comments/discussions always seem like a shit show of misinformation to me. And it's always how nuclear is being phased out in favor of coal and gas and that's why energy is expensive, industry is dying, and the Greens and or EU are to blame for all of it. It's tiring, really, and I have the impression that these posters are not acting in good faith, but posting to reproduce a narrative.

How is it strange? As far as I know, there's quite some research on negative impact of social media on teens mental health. How is restricting access to specific age groups fundamentally different from restricting access to cigarettes or alcohol?

And bad weather usually goes along with with significantly increased power generation from wind turbines. Together with battery storage getting cheaper and cheaper, a long term bet on nuclear seems bad both for economic and ecological reasons.

The sun provides unlimited energy for billions of years, significantly cheaper and without the hypothetical risk of turning huge areas uninhabitable or causing incidents with damage in the trillions.

So in your eyes, the population of several western countries is (and has been for decades) dominated by complete morons, resulting in free or almost free ambulance rides?
