It's like it's a warm story that we propagate to make us feel great. As if we stand as demi-gods in comparison to the relative cavemen of 200 years ago. The most major accomplishment in respect to longevity appears to be... not letting our young perish. Which is obviously all well and good until this kind of argument is used to validify medicine perhaps beyond its merit.

I think if you thought about it for a moment you would realize that he is appealing to the concept of hacking. In this case, hacking diet, something everyone on this site can relate to. This is why it gets attention.

I'm on the fence as to whether I'll to wait and see how this turns out, with his volenteer base or to even hit up the Kickstarter to try it myself, as I personally am at a pivot point where I could change my diet significantly and benefit. If Soylent proves the easy route, so be it.

A simple "No, SF has no bike lanes" would suffice, unless the idea of a bike line is foreign to you.

On the flip side, if this is sufficiently adopted, it could present motivation to driver developers, thus improved drivers. Perhaps this and the linux gaming movement could mean some symbiosis for driver development.

According to an article I saw on HN a week ago, apparently, evidence shows we evolved to naturally wake up once each night about half way through, for around an hour. Of course, we went to sleep when it became dark and woke with the sun. Something that isn't conducive with todays lifestyle.

I just wish it featured some JS syntax highlighting, true to spec JS linting (drop a semicolon and the parser errors) and perhaps CoffeeScript support. Not sure what the implications would be with learning CS before JS or during, but I support its presence none the less.

It doesn't appear to be obvious in what way these pictures are enhanced, either, as one would need the originals to compare. I'd be more inclined to judge Gimp with pure digital art.

I dont think it's practical to rely on memory for passwords anymore. If it's a site you really couldnt give a damn about, then sure, as long as you're okay with whatever information you submit being potentially linked to that password and to any other information.

Id like to suppliment the idea of picking up heavy things with instead, picking up yourself. By this I simply mean body-weight exercises. Push ups, pull ups (buy a pullup bar for a door arch), running, biking, trampolining.

One; it's best for those whom are already unfit, and two, it's very accessible. Weights are usually for intermediate/advanced bodybuilding and beyond. Though, if you're comfortable with weights, regardless, then you're comfortable with them.

If your back is your issue, as per this article, then ill concede that doing rows and deadlifts kind of requires weights. Though, I suppose you could at least do planks.

I've always thought of POI as having above-average tech related consistency compared to other public network US shows.

Some of it still makes me cringe, but when you put it into the perspective of their general audience it does seem, to me, that it's more complex than 95% of said audience can understand. Additionally, I haven't noticed many blatantly stupid/irrelevant errors in the shows technospeak. It's all generally, vaguely, sorta legit.

That pseudo code in CoffeeScript is essentially "do ->", in respect to being happy with node.js and syntax. CS is getting to be rather popular and when it comes to open source projects, anyone who understands JS pretty much gets CS, especially if they're familiar with Python/Ruby.

I think he was after information concerning the heart and running as join degradation from running is, afaik, common knowledge. I was under the impression running improved heart strength.

Such articles state that endurance running (as opposed to sprints) , or any edurancy activity, increase heart attack chance.

No exercise is purported as the greatest heart risk, so perhaps high intensity low endurance is best for heart health? I'd imagine it wouldn't build stamina.

Well from what I have seen, you buy that device and then you install an app on your phone. Surely you could use a firewall on your phone to block outside contact as the connection between the device and your phone is over a closed bluetooth network.

I'm just assuming here that the phone app doesn't self destruct when there is no internet connection.

Yes but surely Garriot isn't completely naive as to think we won't judge the graphics and the game poorly as a result, as he doesn't choose to mention or confirm that said graphics are placeholder.

I think the graphical engine they're using, the shading, the models, are trite, including the UX design - and it sucks, because if it doesn't improve the game won't be worth most peoples time. Runescape, graphically, in 2013 doesn't seem too appealing!

It only appears crazy to those who find themselves desperate to play said games. Others, who aren't, or have created boycotts, can make decisions based on DRM.

I could imagine it applying .tmLanguage scopes to words in the document, where you could colorize different variables according to type (I would opt for different background shades, myself). Then, mixed type colors (prompting you to click it and see what Tern says) when you can't know. Damn, that would be helpful.
