Unintuitively, I think it's more likely that niche cloud services with specialized features will be able to compete better by exploiting industry-specific economies of scale that Amazon can't by being so generalized. Any of these companies that resist a buyout will have huge profit margins like Amazon doesn't.

Sites like jsfidle.net and codebin.org are the perfect solution for education, except there isn't a lot of reason they need to be run remotely. It would be great if they offered a local version, but somehow I think that's not going to happen.

Bitcoins stability is enforced by the market, not a single controlling party (large holders manipulating the market excepted, but their ability to do so has a hard limit). This is a mathematical fact that can be proven with a scientific proof. Apple on the otherhand enforces a single marketplace on their operating system today. Microsoft has mostly learned from their past mistakes and people watch their every move and jump on them if any technology they use can be used to subvert freedom of developers or users down the line.
