You should really consider moving this webpage and report to something like AWS S3 when you first release it. Then move back to your usual servers when traffic has fallen off. Your poor servers must melt down when this shows up on Hacker News and Slashdot.

Zappa is a Python tool that can be extremely helpful for persons getting into Lambda. It basically handles everything except for code creation (You have to do that). You can make crontab like jobs or a website and then push the code up to Lamba with a single command. It handles all the temporary S3 buckets, IAM account creation, fetching the Lambda URL, uploading code and connecting Lambda to API Gateway. Deployments are super smooth.

I have to disagree with the author. I have setup Wordpress using OpsWorks and it is a much better way to do this especially considering all of the stack can be auto managed via Chef. Updates are handled automatically and if you get a surge of traffic, autoscale kicks in.
The only issue is getting the plugins to auto update on all of the servers, which I am fairly certain you can do with Chef or WordPress just handles it.
The problem is that you need to find a DNS provider that allows master and slave configurations of your DNS information. For example, Dyn can act as a master and UltraDNS can act as a slave, however, Route53, you can't be either. With Route53, you are all in.
Lucky for Route53 users, Route53 DNS surface is really large and there is a really good chance that not even is attack could hurt it.

I have a good story on non-compete agreement!
I worked for a company based in New Mexico while I lived in California. When we both got sick of each other, at the exit interview the HR personnel on the phone from New Mexico told me I could not work in IT for the next 2 years as I signed a non-compete agreement. I just started laughing at them and told them I lived in California and good luck with enforcing that contract. End of conversation and I was out in the parking lot 5 minutes later, still laughing.

Let me relay a story about people who laugh at and mock other people's work.
My wife used to work as a copy editor at a major newspaper and worked with one of those "laugh at and make rude comments about other people's work" kind of people. The copy editing checks had to be checked by another copy editor before it was allowed to be forwarded to the layout team for placement in the news paper. How the story checkin and checkout system worked was that your submitted checks were anonymous to other team members. So, there was this one guy on copy editing team who openly mocked and call other people's work "stupid" and "idiotic". He could never say the person's name that he was talking about, but since every copy editor was in the same room, you knew he might be talking about your work. Everyone hated the guy and everyone complained about the guy. My wife would say how much everyone just hated working with the guy and he was just one of those people that made the job unpleasant.
Then layoffs came around (Newspaper in the Internet Age). When this guy was laid off, champagne bottle were opened up and people celebrated. You know when someone is bad when there is a "sorry to see you go" bar get together and they are not invited. A strange thing happened though, productivity went up because people felt better about submitting their work for final approval. Less copy editor mistakes, less stress, more learning, more openness and more engaging with other team members happend. Barriers between teams fell and even with layoffs, people felt better.
It turns out that the person who mocks other people's work, make for a crappy work environment. You can be tolerant of failures on technical levels, but failure in personal level should not be tolerated. Be pleasant to work with, or should you should be fired.

The only way I see IoT security being taken serious is when someone makes a bot that hunts down insecure IoT devices and permanently disables (bricks) them. Only then will customers will force manufacturers to take the subject of security seriously.

I did that it said it can't link to my account. I have not checked yet (My Admin password is locked up at home), but I think my account might not be configured to allow it.
Whatsapp won that battle because Hangouts required a Google account, Whatsapp does not, just a phone number.
On a side note, I notice that Google's new services coming out only require a phone number, which I think will help them a lot.
