No, you are given someone else vision of anything you want. If you are being 100 % honest with yourself, the output of a prompt would never be exactly what you imagined. This is where YOUR creativity dies. Yes, you create, but you create through the filter of someone else. If this ceiling of creativity is enough for you, good. You will never break through it anyway, by design.

Clicking on it brought me to a 404. I found afterwards that the "correct" article does not mention "darting" but "flickering", even in the url. Why are some people mentionning "darting" when it appears nowhere in the text except on HN ? Am I having a mandela effect ? /S
What you wrote resonated with me, I think the same way and so, allow me the pushback. :) Does it have to be that way, a severance type of scenario where the work life is opposite of the "life" life ? I feel that it should, perhaps could, be different. Yeah, it depends on what you do for a living, your need for money and so on, but do people that win at career always lose at life ?
In a world where one could snap their fingers and magically have everything, would "growth" be impossible?
Think this one through. Would growth even make sense ? What would be the meaning of getting everything you want ? Would such a life be worth it ?
If you ask me, I'd say that such a life would have no meaning for anyone involved and as such, maybe the universe would not even care to have that experience. I don't know, just spitballing there !
I always say that time is the best filter.
In the moment, you can be easily mistaken that something is good, or the best even if the marketing team of that something is really going hard at your wallet. But the only way, and they know it too well, to assess quality is to simply...wait and see later.

I feel like growing up is realizing that the government is just a big gang. They do what they want and will enforce with menace what they want. They can change the rules, take your stuff and it ain't stealing because they said so. Sigh.

Yup. Knowing the exact percentage of those people would be hurtful to my soul I think, but I suspect they drive a meaningful percentage of business. Like that time when Netflix displayed shows on, because some people couldn't be bothered to actually choose something to watch ?
Genuine question : are you scared for your job ? I see this tendency to use "synthetic personas" growing and frankly, having to explain why this sucks is insulting in itself. Decision makers are just not interested in having this kind of thought argument.
Why even be sarcastic about it ? There is no human invention that has not exploded thanks (or because of) pornographic possibilities. HD-DVD vs Blueray, Internet...I'd even argue that XR is not as big as it could be because it is really clamped down to deviant usage !

So you have multiple success conditions. You just want a space, maybe it's a restaurant ? A bar ? A pub ? Maybe it's actually just decorating it, not owning it ? Co-managing it ? Could be as well a hackerspace ? A school ?
it's much harder for the meaning in your life to come from the work itself, because there are so many things waiting to punish you if you try to live that way. But there are still certainly ways to do it.
I'd say untrue. I see many colleagues identifying with their job even though they are "just" employees. The global economy, to some extent I'd say, run because of such people. Managers, directors, lead whatevers...
In my opinion it should be a major goal of society to remove as many barriers to doing meaningful work as possible.
I'd argue the barriers are a feature, not a bug : how do you know you truly want something ? Make it hard to get. So only deserving people will get it, and we will have the best of it.
