I agree that it's the best show on TV at the moment. Perhaps when it ends it's run in a month or so, some other show will be the best on TV. But for this summer, yeah, this is it, and it's great.

USA picked it up for the second season before the first episode aired, which is a fairly bold move, showing the faith the network has in the show.

It was also originally conceived as a movie, and the first season of the show would have been act one of the movie, so it's laying a fine, detailed groundwork for whatever is to come.

One aspect of Google+ that always grated on me was that the name was terrible branding. I don't know if I'm in the minority for feeling this way, but with with all their other services that one gets tied up with, you don't want a 'plus' you want to think about the social aspect as a compartmentalized, separate section. They'd have been much better off calling it something else, or at least trying to be a lot quieter about tying all of it together.

I am sure the social media trend numbers looked great on paper, but they severely underestimated how tired people would get with it. (I'd say only a small fraction of my facebook friends still are active there, for instance.)

Anyhow, my troubles with the G+ branding may sound like a nitpick, but I think it was a lot of the problem. People already had privacy concerns about Google, now they could have privacy concerns+.

I am totally sold, because my github repos are numerous and I'd love to tag them all. But the tagging feature needs a cancel button, not just save.

And drag and drop of the tags doesn't work, dragging them to the right on the green background only scrolls it sideways.

When I try to drag off the side, it's scrolling sideways and kind of breaking the UI. I'm using Chrome on Windows.

I'm not european, but I imagine that the amount spent on this mission (which launched in 2004!) is miniscule compared to the amount that would be needed to fix a country's economy.

I think the great thing about this story is the crowd. That's a detail to arcades that is forgotten to time. Whatever the game, if someone was good at it, (and the arcade wasn't totally dead of course,) people would stop and watch. You could save your quarters and watch graphics and levels you'd never seen.

This has always been my thought on the matter. I am surprised there's a controversy. The only times I've heard it pronounced 'jif' is by people unsure of the pronunciation and quickly corrected.

I do think that Susan Wilson probably doesn't need the money. But more importantly, I think this kickstarter (and however much notoriety it generates) is more what Susan Wilson is after here. It's almost finely crafted to be controversial, just at an edge of what is acceptable, and will be something she can cite for the next decade in interviews. It's clear that this particular woman doesn't need the money, but the fame she generates in exploiting her child is priceless.

Perhaps you have a small child, preferably a girl, who needs training on how to shoot better pictures? You could probably write the kickstarter from your child's POV, too. If enough people want to see the resulting snapshots, they'll probably kick in enough to cover a new camera as well as the plane ticket you've already bought!

There are so many girls whose parents aren't millionaires who need our help that I am a little shocked that so many people were misled in backing this. I think Susan Wilson's comments on the kickstarter are a fine example of shooting yourself in the foot. It's actually a little funny to see the comments go from very positive at first to negative as more and more concerns are raised. It's She's clearly exploiting her children and the goodwill of the community. I'll be very surprised if Kickstarter doesn't put a stop to this very quickly.

They need to indent their stylesheet, but that's an interesting perspective, and a nice overview for those needing a refresher as to the history of Google's tactic.

I'm very surprised that they rolled this out without the "sharing" features baked into Google Drive already. You can publish the contents of a spreadsheet, but you can't get at these notes. I know the announcement says a feature like this is coming in a few weeks, but why didn't they just withhold the launch until it's more mature? I mean, who is going to early adopt something so crippled? There seems to be such a lack of focus from Google lately, and I'm not trying to hop on the bandwagon. But they could have rolled this out with the share features already found in Google Drive.

drive.google.com/keep/ keeps giving me errors. I don't see how this is going to be an Evernote-killer for me though. (I am actually new to Evernote, but it's been wonderful so far.) I actually don't like google's unified product integration! If there was a clear way to export or use webhooks to retrieve these notes, I'd reconsider.

I can see the value in this, but I probably wouldn't use it. I run a WAMP server on my desktop and have made an Alias in my httpd.conf to my Github Repos directory, allowing me to cruise in and see example html pages very easily. I just clone the repo in windows, and then I can use /git/REPO/coolthing.js in a script tag. I use a chrome extension for rendering README.md (markdown) files.

I doubt it's the framerate. Peter Jackson just isn't the greatest director in the world. That seems more in line with the criticism I've seen.

I do not like the new redesign, and will have to implement these tips just to make it a little more usable. I wish Google wouldn't do sucky things like this. Also Googe seems to have the worst branding. Google+, really? You think that's more alluring than Facebook? Also, rebranding the android app marketplace as "Google Play"? That's just terrible.
