How do you find these instances? I quit Reddit after being a user for 13 years once they killed the API for 3rd parties.

There are some subreddits I’d like to browse still but I definitely won’t be joining back into that dumpster fire.

I’ve been using Lemmy but it’s honestly aggravating to use in many ways.

Google just keeps on digging in. Their search engine has been a smoldering SEO dumpster fire for the past 10 years; Now it’s blazing.

Chrome? Friends don’t let friends use Chrome. It’s the unadulterated Android OS of the browser world.

I’ve been considering Kagi, but I don’t see an easy way to pay for it without basically removing all anonymity… it really is a relentless yet boring dystopia.

This isn’t really the case for some college degrees. You cannot be successful in engineering e.g., specifically ME (in my case), through memorization alone.

For many degrees, you’re absolutely correct though. I remember being envious of such workloads in college simply because of the idea that time spent studying directly correlates to your grade. Engineering degrees, in general, simply show that you know how to learn. Memorization is helpful but alone is not enough to understand concepts and apply them.

Memorizing formulas vs. being able to derive them is a good example here.

Yeah, I’ve been replacing parts on and repairing iPhones for 15 years now; more of a hobby and fixing stuff for friends.

The battery is simple to replace even on the newest phones. Sure there’s a warning about non apple part that will show up but eventually subside. And that is only if you don’t swap the BMS module from the original to the new one. Any reputable shop should know to do this and have the skills required to desolder and resolder 2 connections…
