The problem I have with Garmin is lack of support for older devices. They practically bricked my old bike computer. Unfortunately it's been awhile and I can't recall the details of the issue. I have since switched to Wahoo but have only had it for about 3-4 years now.

I think it was 3.3x where things started working. I don't recall 4.x being around much. I do remember 5 and 6. For some reason 4 never made a splash in my circle of friends.

The modem the ISP provides has hard coded settings to limit connection counts as well as rate limit and probably other things. There is a reason they sell full duplex gigabit for so cheap, there are gremlins in the hardware.

IT can screen capture you computer without you knowing so this isn't new. Furthermore they can also see what application is in the foreground and OCR the captured image for more information. The possibilities to monitor you are endless.

The litigation is primarily from environmental groups.

A few years back CA had serious wild fire issues. PG&E was just the scapegoat. There are multiple factors but the main issue is that it's nearly impossible to get the environmental documentation (Environmental Impact Statements or EISs) prepared and approved for prescribed burns on federal land due to legal challenges from environmental groups that really have no idea what they are doing.

I bet it was a fun project, but in reality backups using rsync vs restic, borg, etc., are very inefficient in speed, performance, storage, and likely other ways. After discovering these newer tools, I vowed to never put myself through the pain of rsync backups ever again.

I worked with a friend competing for a 0.5M prize to build a robot to collect material on the moon. The project was sponsored by NASA. After that experience, I would be hesitant to enter these kinds of completions. At first it seemed straight forward but as things got closer to the end, tiny details about how to the communicate with the robot and other things were changed. It was discouraging to put in all that work, have everything tested perfectly and then at the last minute some rule change comes along or they change things in the environment that was already tested in.

I _believe_ remapping ctrl breaks ctrl+shift+f in VS Code. Not 100% sure.

Will you be able to make computer network diagrams? None of the existing open source programs are very useful for this mostly because you can’t put text at the beginning, middle, and end of connectors.

It does seem like a great solution but we've shied away from it because the price. For an enterprise you need the business license. Something like OpenVPN Cloud I think is 1/3 the price.

I think the thing we need to watch out for is using LoraWan in devices. It's basically a free low bandwidth network. Amazon has already included a gateway in some of their devices.

It might be SonosNet only supports 2.4ghz. I run SonosNet, I find WiFi to be problematic.

But if you go with a Merv 14 filter (which is amazing by the way), you will spend some serious money. Merv 12 is affordable. Merv 11 is an insult to air filters.
