My Canadian stepfather died. Family is not close and I’m in the US. The Canadian newspaper where his obit would be doesn’t allow connections from the US.

I use Mycroft with the home assistant vm running on Proxmox. I’m surprised how easily they integrate. And when the internet goes out I can locally control things from a laptop.

I had the same issue with other software that, after making a valid attempt to cancel, I ended up shutting off the money from the credit card. That worked.

I tried zero guesses but entered “EEEEE”, hit “Give up” and it told me I got it right in one try and the word was “DECAL”!

I have and sometimes use a 1935 Western Electric phone and it's associated "subscriber set" with my Google Voice account. The phone itself is completely unaltered, as is the subscriber set. Just a plug for a typical phone jack.

I once had a teenager say it was "complicated" to use; dial 9 for and outside line and the number.

Just the other day I created a vm on my proxmox server of the Tails .iso. Makes it much easier to fire up rather than reboot something with a USB.

Thanks for the encouragement in continuing with my court reporting classes. It's still going to be a good career for the foreseeable future.

It worries me that this appears to be Windows attempt to turn Linux into a component of Windows-essentially Windows swallowing Linux. Linux shouldn’t require Windows to operate.

I run it at home and have use the dhcp server, too. All the numerous family PCs, Kindles, phone, etc, use it and it works great. For a family of four with two teen-age kids, it blocks about 20% of the DNS traffic we create.
