Why does it have to have a chat interface? What's wrong with entering airports in different fields? I'm not convinced it's needed for a "routine trip" feature, you could just have some sort of bookmark feature..

You uninstall all snaps, uninstall snapd, and block it from being installed via APT.

Then you add e.g. the mozilla PPA such that its firefox package gets installed instead.

Nitpick, but:

At its core, a file descriptor (often abbreviated as fd) is simply a positive integer

A _non-negative_ integer.

Discworld Rules 1 year ago

It isn’t, like, a hidden fact or anything.

It really is, in-universe. Almost noone knows this save other maiar. The wizards are perceived as men by most people, them being maiar is far from common knowledge.

As a Mac user, your best bet is probably X-Plane. There's only a few short tutorials, but given your history you should have no issues :)

Well in a sense you are right that it is lazy, in that it would be quite a lot of work to disentangle those parts.

So they could probably do it, but it would be costly, while just releasing the TF2 code is basically free.

The point they're trying to make, I think, is: Black/Ruff format, or any other formatter necessarily need to operate on universal rules. In context, sometimes these rules don't make sense. I still would love some kind of stateful linter and formatter, where it suggests me changes that I can then accept or ignore (and won't be told about again).

Formatters _are_ a compromise. They make your coworkers' code nicer, and your code worse.

I think ripgrep specifically is counted in the comment you reply to as a tool that _does_ do one thing well, and that one should use it (or grep) in combination with an ls, instead of giving ls filtering abilities.

as there's no guarantee it will be maintained

As opposed to official projects like Allo, Wave, Reader, etc. that will?

It's saying "modern, maintained", implying that ls is either not maintained (wrong), or ls is not modern (can be argued to be true). Only one of those two properties need to hold for the entire label to fit.

Maybe not a regular customer, but there's other reasons you might have a phone field:

In Israel, certain advertising numbers start with a *.

In New Zealand, non-urgent traffic incidents can be reported by calling *555 from a mobile phone.

The counter-proposal is: don't do it. This comment by the Apple guy sums it up well IMHO:

Colleagues and I have discussed this and don't see a way to grant write access to the end user's local file system in a way that safeguards the end user's interests.

Because there's typically at least a minimum of safety checks before an app can go into the app store, whereas a website can do whatever it wants (and can).

Likewise. I _did_ sell those stellar tokens they gave to (longtime?) users for about 50 bucks though, before deleting my account.
