Are these the same studies where they grouped frozen pizza with regular beef?

Beef and chicken does not cause cancer anymore than anything else does. It is an insane take that regular food causes cancer in any level that should be worrisome. Don't cite the studies where they grouped frozen pizza in the same category as beef.

Not a doctor, but can recommend methylphenidat any day over amphetamine. It is a much less "angry" version and the slow release evens the effect.

All plastics are endocrine disruptors [a], though the an easy filter is softer = worse. If anything food related is in contact with plastic there will be plastic in the food. The pH and temperature of the food have a big impact on plastic leaching.

And sperm quality mostly affect fertility. The egg and the body if the woman is incredibly effective at selecting quality sperm and rejecting bad sperm. There are multiple guidance systems for sperm which selects for good quality [b].

There is an ongoing discussion on the effect of caffein on sperm quality. There are articles which describes a possible route for DNA damage to the sperm from caffein https://www.cureus.com/articles/109365-effect-of-stress-and-.... From personal (lab) experience there is a clear difference to the smell of sperm from a coffee to a non coffee drinker, so it ends up there somehow. Whether it truly has an effect is still being discussed.

I did my Master Degree in Organic Chemistry where we tried to develop a male contraceptive pill. I spend a lot of time studying sperm so here is a short list of thing to avoid regarding sperm quality (not ranked):

1. Eating and drinking from plastics (This includes aluminum cans which are plastic lined) [a]

2. Heating food in ANY type of plastic [a]

3. Caffein intake [b]

4. Sugar intake [c]

5. NOT exercising regularly [d]

6. Alcohol [e]

7. Age [f]

8. Stress [g]

9. Soy products or other natural products containing phytoestrogens [h]

Funnily enough these goes for both genders regarding fertility. If you are considering having a child, it takes approximately 7 months for sperm to fully develop so better to change lifestyle sooner rather than later.

I worked for a "small" 60 people biotech/oncology company which were continually in the negative, financially speaking. The company existed like this for 20 years, selling potential drug candidates for hundreds of millions (DKK). The idea behind the company was so good that investors kept it alive and it was then bought for billions (DKK) by a big American biotech company.

As other posters note some feed-forward defense mechanism requires a larger dose to elicit a response. Sometimes small doses have a cascade effect meaning A->2xB->6xC etc whereas a larger dose would activate a feed-backward mechanism between B and C.

A classic example is endocrine disruptors (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4036398/), a small dose induces a hormonal response, a medium dose the body fights due to detecting it as foreign and a high dose is just regular toxic. Please note this is somewhat simplified but used as an example.

Organic/medicinal chemist here. Some toxin, endocrine disruptors and many other things have widely variable toxicity curves. Something we often see is U curves. With high toxicity in both small and high doses. The small doses can induce cascade effects (like hormones).

I have a master degree in chemistry and during my studies have grown quite a lot of crystals. As a lot of the other posters point out it is due to capillary effects; both formed by the new crystals and by microscopic channels and irregularities in the container.

If crystals didn't 'want' to grow we would often cool the solution down and scratch the bottom of the glass container with a metal spatula.

This is probably gonna sound a bit dystopian, but would you eat beef if we eliminated suffering with CRISPR? I don't get to talk to a lot of vegetarians/vegans so honest question.

As a medicinal chemist (obviously biased), I would focus more on treatment and alleviation than the genetic component. This would usually mean looking at the metabolism or how the genetic mutation alters it. Is your partner lacking an enzyme, certain metabolites or intermediates etc.? These can at times be supplimented either directly or indirectly through food or vitamins/co-factors.

Then, considering your answer above, how does that match to reality? What accounts for this mismatch? Why are fields (and awards like this) underrepresenting our populations?

Isn't that obvious? Nobel prices (especially science) often have a lag time of 50 years (semi random number) and is also often given to middle aged people. So since science has been dominated by white guys we will see almost all Nobel prizes given to white guys. I expect this to change in 100 years as more women enter STEM and then with some added lag time.

This is nonsense - there is no way to predict weight gain based on calorie intake - variance between people is too huge on this metric - individual BMR alone varies between 1000 kcal/day up to 2500 kcal/day.

Please site your sources. A variance of basal metabolic rate (BMR) of 2500 kcal/day sounds too extreme to be true, but I am open to learning something new. At least according to (https://examine.com/nutrition/does-metabolism-vary-between-t...) the variance in BMR is only around 300-400 kcal/day which makes your number unbelievable high.
