I think you'll have the fewest distribution issues with a go binary. But if you have lots of experience building and distributing java programs to your customers then go with what you know!

I remember reading a blog post of the peculiarities of GPU programming and the post noting that for most modern graphics cards (at the time) if you can keep your computable data in chunks no bigger than 64kb a piece you can expect to see enormous performance gains even on top of what you'll see by using openCL/CUDA because of a physical memory limit on the actual GPU itself.

I also remember thinking that a 64kb row size for DynamoDB was very odd.

I wonder if these things are at all related.

That's interesting. I know a lot of web designers that use macs primarily and I wonder how having such a high default resolution would impact their design choices. Could this 'break the web' as people around here are so fond of saying for non high resolution screen users?

I love this kind of thing and I think this is a good implementation.

I may have misunderstood it but don't the android design guidelines specifically recommend against using a bottom justified tabs control for 4.0?

short-sighted is the perfect word here. Its possible that without his deliberate abuse this small project would have encouraged people to be more charitable to causes like the one he wants to donate to. The value of those donations over a lifetime could well have exceeded his little cash grab several times. Instead this has just made people distrust the idea of giving money away a little bit more.

I agree with you except on one point. Sam is exactly the kind of person I thought was taking the money and I think most people probably suspected the same thing. I thought it was someone sitting around watching the twitter feed stealing money 150$ at a go. Someone who looked at this, possibly silly probably naive, social project and said 'This is stupid and I'm gonna show them how stupid it is.' I also knew that this person would eventually write a blog post about how smart they were for figuring out how to steal from people giving away money and how the project wasn't just foolish it was immoral.

Did anyone else notice that one of them shot an arrow at the plane? lol.

In all seriousness I wonder how they would treat someone like him if he just showed up one day. Probably depends on the day of the week.
