The test was run twice and the AI was released both times but the logs of the conversations weren't made public. Also all of the extra protocols weren't in place for either test meaning he could have bought the AI's release.
It's an interesting thought experiment but it's a bit ridiculous that the "tests" are mentioned on the page when they don't have any relevance to the rest of the idea.

To be fair this site has been around for years. Since 2006 according to whois.
I almost never shut it down. Probably only once a month.
Waking from sleep is faster and I don't have to re-open my applications and documents. Shutting it down would save a small amount of power but that's rarely an issue (I'd shut it down if I was flying somewhere).
Are there some benefits to shutting it down I'm overlooking?
AFAIK a 0-day exploit is an exploit that was found in the wild. No one previously knew about it and there's a scramble to fix it.
In a week this exploit will be an "old 0-day exploit" because the "0-day" bit describes developer preparedness at discovery, not how long the exploit has been known.
By 2050 the set of all verbs will be pared down to just "hacking" and "trolling".
The content posted on that Facebook page plays into the public stereotype of "programmer". Why would they think any of that would appeal to actual programmers? They must know some, someone had to make their site. It's embarrassing really (lol this shoe has a keyboard on its sole. It must be for programmers!!!11!!one!).
Keeping these things clean would be very hard. Perhaps a better target market than single-night-guests is medium-term-guests.

I want to be a pedant and correct that to "body fat" instead of "weight". A change in diet can stress the body into retaining extra water weight, causing a temporary increase in weight.

That's not what this is. The API has been ported, they haven't written a AS3 -> Dart compiler.
It's twisted but I always wonder the same thing. Why don't psychopaths "get" more people? If someone rings my doorbell I answer the door, I expect the person on the other side to be a rational human being. It wouldn't be too hard for the other person to just bum-rush me with a knife and take me out.
I think there may be an evolutionary factor involved, easier to survive in a group so there is an incentive not to harm those around you. Able bodies can warn of nearby danger and help fight off threats, as long as you aren't a threat to them and they aren't a thread to you you're golden. There's also the fact that most people are fairly content in society and like things to stay relatively constant. Nobody wants to risk the rest of their life by doing something dumb like even accidentally injuring someone, let alone purposefully killing someone.

The browser will treat the link as a download instead of content. You click on an image link, it downloads the image instead of displaying the image.

I use dropbox a lot to send stuff to friends over IRC. Screenshots, save files, snippets of code. You can put up a HTML page that loads a SWF from your public folder, no worries. I have some music in there too and a HTML music player that points to the files so I have a simple music library on any computer with web access.
Sending you to a landing page instead of just serving up the content is unnecessary and disrupts all of these activities.
Phys.org and sciencedaily.com can go too, but they rarely get posted here.

edit: But looking at the hardware pics it looks like it is single module but more than that, it looks like the RAM chips are soldered directly to the motherboard. Not a RAM module soldered to the board but the actual chips which means the cost to apple would be even less since you just double the ICs.
Yes, IIRC it's one of their big selling points. You can easily get your data out and use it for whatever you want. For example I believe many Jekyll blogs use Disqus for comments and periodically grab all the comments then write them into the html so that google will spider the comment section.
I use Flashblock and Do Not Track, one of those messes with Disqus and I never see discussions either.

If the content creators don't want their content on Imgur then they should be able to take it down.
Nothing is preventing people from linking directly to the content creators site, redditors are just apathetic and would rather just click through imgur links.
I'm curious about this too. Use something like Tineye and check new Funnyjunk submissions against The Oatmeals image archive. Aside from the hardware it's a tiny amount of work for 1 human to monitor the results.
