As a RuneScape player I'm astonished at how well Jagex have done to revive the old RS community by bringing back the old version of the game, and then polling in new features.
Hopefully Blizzard can take notes from this with WoW classic

"A freelancer or freelance worker, is a term commonly used for a person who is self-employed and is not necessarily committed to a particular employer long-term. Freelance workers are sometimes represented by a company or a temporary agency that resells freelance labor to clients; others work independently or use professional associations or websites to get work."

Going off your quote it just looks like they're describing the symptom?
Just to point out, this article is focused on the US only.

You didn't miss much. (subjective)
I can't see any of these images in Firefox.
Edit: Works in Safari.
It's a good thing the internet has enough ad space to sell all this crap
I think the point stands, and the article explicitely says "start with". Apps can come later in lots of cases. A personal example - I was hired to build the MVP Android app for a new greeting card company. 1 year later: It's been done for 6 months, no one's using it, no one wants to use it, everyone's using the web app.
