As far as substance goes, how is my comment less substantive than the top comment (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=15575704) on the thread? I said that it was foolish to consider protesting fascism to be worse than fascism, and that commenter said that protesters should be expelled. They're equally substantive comments that express opposing views on the issue in from the article.

The government of North Korea is one of the two puppet dictatorships established in the Korean peninsula after World War II. It was the will of the Korean people to establish a socialist democracy, not a Juche dictatorship, but in 1946 the USSR and USA decided that what the Korean people wanted was the least important concern. The point is that it wasn't the ideology of the Korean people that mattered, it was the clash of 2 imperialists and its result.

The US dropped more bombs on North Korea than we dropped on all of Europe and Japan during WWII. Proxy wars between superpowers never work out well for the actual people affected, and we should not be so forgetful of that.

My rule nowadays is to go with a web application unless you have a good reason not to. The difference between the work done for deployment is enormous, and it's enough to justify avoiding desktop applications 90% of the time.

For most people here, $500 is crazy. People in rural America tend to be poor.

That number includes specialists and lab techs. It doesn't include hospital care (i.e. nurses).

You are just ignoring the profiteering done by the drug and insurance companies and the savings due to streamlining administration that a single payer system would bring.

Physician pay (last I checked) only makes up about 20%, including the costs of them practicing. They see about half of it in the end. There is even more spent on administration, which makes up about 25% of spending. Compare that 25% to the 9% in Canada and it becomes pretty obvious where you can save money.

You have no idea if you think technology magically brings down prices. Tell that to the 100 million people living in/near poverty in the USA alone.

The "efficiency" increases in recent years have more often than not been various ways of cutting labor costs. It doesn't matter if things are cheaper in a nominal sense if your ability to earn a living is eroded.
