Indifference for small developers? Whatever you want to call it, I don't care. An indifference at times about how they control the app ecosystem? No.. Just no.

Apple doesn't want small developers on iOS. I thought this was clear 5 years ago. Every thing they've done in both the market, the UI, and the OS makes it difficult for small developers to get a leg up and for new technologies to be adopted. To Apple, integrating 3rd party libraries is not a concern of there's, that's for the professionals to try to get to work, then use as a competitive barrier, thus increasing the quality of the top apps in the market, the only apps that matter.

Why is the risk of Scheme so high? Is it financial risk, or risk of people doing things together instead of using G+?

i would say so, but how would you go about doing that exactly? You could have serious unintended consequences.

Apple doesn't have the best track record around auditing software for obfuscated functionality. The OS is built around the assumption that an app can misbehave without risking the user's resources. Of course, jailbreaking disproves this.

How about we just call it marketing?

I don't trust any media files... Especially ones from Google who are doing most of the research... seriously though, media zero-days are unheard of, probably because they would be extremely valuable.

I guess the correct solution is to use Java? Then we can bitch about run away garbage collection. How about Python then? It's really "fast". Or we can program it in snide remarks on forums, then we don't even have to write any working code to feel superior.

I had to understand trigonometry to write a good motion function. So you have to have at least the understanding of trig to write that program. But having a language to abstract away the complexity meant I didn't have to know more than trig, which I would have had to if I wanted to write the program more effectively or in pure math.

That was the idea. Lots of big companies are onboard, nobody small is integrated. Google "Federated Identity"
