Why does that matter?

So, continuing to profit--forever--from someone's else work, at scale, without their prior consent, is fair use?
Yes, that is the entire history of humanity. People steal the last generations works and build something from it to make it their own.
Associates are billing over $1000/hr and can bill 12 hours a day easily enough. If you have 5 associates billing an average of 50 hours a week then in a month thats a million dollar bill just for the junior lawyers.
US was prosperous post war because the industrial capacity of the rest of the world was destroyed. Comparing that time period to any other doesnt make sense.
We can only employ natives if we want, we just have to accept that prices of things that are currently run on immigrant labor will go up, and a lot less of it will be produced. Personally I am unwilling to make that tradeoff but obviously you dont have to agree. US labor market suffers seriously from baumol's cost disease, only solution to that is immigration with the understanding that immigrants will take unwanted jobs in exchange for a better life for their kids.
Immigration is keeping wages down for jobs natives dont want. I dont see the issue.
Wouldn't business owners pay more for labor if there wasn't a stead supply of under the table illegal immigrants doing it for less?
Maybe, or maybe they just employ less people and less things get built.
Ok? If you want natives to take these jobs construction prices will go up. So we need immigrants to affordably build things. If all construction workers are native going forward the vast majority of people will never be able to afford a home other than inheriting one.
Im in favor of benevolent dictatorship. The big problem is ensuring the benevolence
95% of rationalists always thought roko's basilisk was a joke
We need immigration because there’s a construction worker shortage. No immigrants = even more expensive to build new homes
In my experience the only reason it needs to read a lot of files is if your agents.md is deficient. It should only need to read the file it's actually working on, maybe a few others. Everything else should be explained in documentation
Yea by the time you get to 300k context its IQ is a solid standard deviation lower anyway, why would you really want to beyond that?
I'm not sure how this makes my life any better.
Well instead of staring at a computer the whole time now they can actually make eye contact with you. IMO that alone makes my life quite a bit better
Our knowledge of it very much is not
In this case it seems to me that LLMs in medicine pretty much are just better for everyone with no real downsides. Im not a doctor but have 2 in my family I speak with regularly and from how they talk about it care is pretty much just unequivocally better now because they dont have to be sitting at the computer taking notes all the time. It removed a huge part of the process that neither patients nor doctors enjoyed.

A lot of their usage was fable which is crazy expensive.
All the investors knew that nasdaq and trackers would have to buy spacex and that number of shares traded is extremely limited. They might have bought earlier and planned to sell when the index crunch started?
I mean yes, but the vast majority of people aren’t even good writers. Claude writes better than most of my coworkers and we’re all highly educated. Most of us could probably beat it if we really tried, but then we could also prompt it to be a better writer too and none of us are beating that. I think the short pithy phrases that are so common are all post training stuff that the labs add because most people don’t want long sentences.
AMD is held back by their interconnect and firmware disadvantage compared to nvidia. They’ve been trying really hard to create their own cuda, but rocM and HIP still aren’t very popular especially for research.
Nuclear takes minimum 15 years to build. Even if they started in earnest theyd still have problems for over a decade
There are programs that work this way in the US too. Most doctors arent interested because the pay cut you take working for the poor hospitals/military for a decade arent worth the paid off loan.
OpenAI now controls one of if not the largest philanthropic endowments on the planet. They are still a philanthropic endeavor, though I agree the non profit bait and switch as well as the Altman board situation were tragedies.
Yes, it very clearly is
Imagine thinking someone donating money is evidence of something bad
And what movement isn’t attractive to manipulative sociopaths who want to maximize their power? That’s unavoidable when dealing with humans.
Does codex not have a pre prompt about being a coding agent like claude code does?
I thought models werent allowed tools on arc-agi?
Well Google has been working on voice assistants for years now on android. It makes sense that they had a head start
msft gaming likely has a negative market cap
Obviously people want sequels, that's why hollywood makes so many of them.
