No I'm looking at the big picture and given the amount of refugees allowed in it is a major loss economically and culturally in the short term and quite likely in the long term as well.

The US did immigration right before only allowing in people when there was a need for workers and only allow predominantly cultures that would attempt to integrate and get along with the existing population.

The current policy allows unregulated areas (no go zones) to exist where the refugees make the laws; police are afraid to go in and they are not required to integrate into society plus their cultural and religious beliefs create a propensity for hostility against the locals/infidels.

Honestly it's a powder keg waiting to explode and given the rise of terrorist attacks in Europe it's getting there at a short and steady pace. It will take generations before their views will be moderate enough for them to be able to get along with the local population and the higher the amount of people and the longer they are kept in their echo chamber the longer it will take.

In the mean time we will see a rise in draconian Sharia law type laws since they will represent a considerable amount of the voting population just like in the UK. See Lauren Southern held under terrorism act for social experiment [1]

Mind you the UK allowed the change to be gradual and their local Muslim population is quite moderate over all yet this is still happening.

You're right it doesn't but everyone seems to assume it will which is quite baffling.

Tourism is a low value-added industry or not it's not something they can afford to loose at the moment. It's not like all the citizens of Italy are highly skilled workers that would be working a better paying job if they lost their current low paying one.

Because it doesn't have a limit or conditions the overwhelming majority of assumed refugees are illegal immigrants brought over on the boats of NGO's. They haven't used the proper channels and haven't been checked what so ever in many cases it's not even possible to know their country of origin forget about anything else.

If they have completed the proper procedures and done all the paperwork for seeking asylum fair enough but that's not what's happening now they just show up.

Being a humanitarian is admirable but at the end of the day it's a luxury that may or may not pay off in the long run.

Just the same way you don't give your money to a beggar on the street when you can barely afford to survives yourself the employment of personal boundaries is important for humans and countries.

So given that Italy is not doing so well at the moment I kind of have to question their thinking reducing their revenue stream in favour if immigrants.

The assumption that all immigration is good immigration is not true.

As far as I'm aware tourism is not a short term thing there will always be tourists coming and leaving this is an constant revenue steam in its own right.

They really just need to search for ways to manage the crowds instead alienating them to be honest.

Tourist bring a lot of money to local businesses you really shouldn't be killing the goose who lays the golden eggs if you ask me.

So what their basically saying is they would rather kick out tourists that bring in and spend quite a lot of money effectively boosting the economy in favour of some refugees the government will have to spend a large amount of money on... and you wonder why the contry's economy is in such a bad shape when the citizens advocate shooting themselves in the foot.

I don't understand why everyone is so against his point as far as I'm aware even wikipedia says under "Open source license"[1] that "Licenses which only permit non-commercial redistribution or modification of the source code for personal use only are generally not considered as open-source licenses."

So his point is valid you can't advertise your product as open source if it's not and you shouldn't be allowed to trick the community into thinking it is.

Companies can use whatever license they like it's their right but advertising it as open source when it isn't just to take advantage of the now large community of open source contributors is not acceptable.

Using “Apache+Commons Clause” is just one way used to trick people into believing it's open source when it's not; you may not be using it like that but do you honestly think a company with a team of lawyers didn't do this intentionally so they can take advantage of the open source community?

There's a fine line between expressing one's views and trying to silence others you seem to have problems seeing the difference.

Don't you use websites that have a dark theme more instead. I always preferred websites that allowed me to select a dark theme and it seems to be more and more popular to do that.

Hell even you-tube does that now.

I found that black background with white text is great when you have perfect eyesight but once your eyesight starts to go and you start needing glasses white background with black text is easier to read.

it is but it's not feasible for the system theme to change the styles of websites.

Just ask any Linux user that uses dark themes and you will find out what happens when the system theme messes with the site theme.

I myself always set a light theme in my Firefox config so I don't get a black on black text/background issue.

With how customized the styling on sites is every site needs to implement their own dark version otherwise you will run into situations where the styling is broken.

If you had a problem with strangers violating your property you should have fixed it yourself before it became common knowledge in the neighbourhood that your house is easy to walk in and out of without your consent.

Well the incentive for China is simple since it uses all Chinese sources so the costs get higher than necessary but it's a foreign government flipping the bill so they don't care plus there is no competition.

The risks in Africa are great but when China has got your back as a company the math is different.

Not to mention we're talking Chinese concrete here that building will be turning to dust in less than 5 years they do the same in China after all and that's why it's not smart to buy property long term there although it's culturally necessary to be able to have a family there.

They may be building grand buildings but they use sub par materials so they are no build to last so I predict the debt will last longer than what they offered for it.

I works in China because the handle the supply and demand internally but it's a different story when they start exporting that.

They were never moving towards democracy they were always moving towards "democracy with Chinese characteristics".

All they ever wanted was to get all the benefits of democracy while staying a communist dictatorship which given the results so far they have succeeded in brilliantly.

In many ways they are now out competing other countries because they have way more power and leverage on where Chinese companies move or what they do based on they outcome of their political negotiations with other countries.

Not to mention they will never allow foreign companies to make money in China and instead they will favour the local "home grown" alternative or if there isn't one they will just steal it. There is a reason every foreign company is required to have local to be a part of the operations for them to be able to operate in China.

Some of the time the corporate investment doesn't even need to be profitable financially for the company just as long as it is profitable politically for China.

It's amazing how well China plays the game and frankly other Countries just can't compare at the moment. As an evil super villain I have to give kudos to how well they strip every freedom of their citizens even though I don't like any of it.

How do you even go about defending yourself from such mass surveillance beside giving up technology and when necessary encrypting and deleting everything you do while wearing a mask every time you leave the house?

If the system is cheating you it's only fair you cheat it back... but I get what you mean; most users won't even know to do that or would be interested in doing it.

It's shady for Google to lie to their users especially when they imply its the browsers fault and not just their dev team being lazy gits and not validating that features work on Firefox.

Because that's the only valid excuse I could come up with that would make sense as to why they don't support it beside being shady that is...

I have used Firefox since forever as well and fell the same way. I have never run into memory issues or slow loading with Firefox while I kept hearing about Chrome constantly using too much memory recently.

As a developer i noticed some minor default CSS bugs with the new Firefox Quantum that didn't used to be there but that's about it.

I also use Chrome in my development cycle so it does seem to have some neat features that Firefox is lacking but I doubt regular users would ever notice that.

It was just never enough to make me switch although I would appreciate Mozilla putting more effort into their developer tools.

P.S. I end up having over 100 tabs open so yeah... although my OS is Linux not Windows so your mileage may vary.

Correct me if I'm wrong but i have't seen any sites taking anything else so as far as I'm aware all the other crypto currencies have only ever been used for speculation.

And i believe how a currency is used is quite relevant if you ask me.

The transaction fees are so high that it seems useless for anything but speculation at this stage.

Seems to me that it completely lost its original purpouse if that doesn't get ajusted somehow.

Say 1% of transaction value with a maximum of the current transaction fee maybe.

Baning it is no going to solve much so it sound more like a threat to me to make the exchanges more cooperative.

It would be cool if there were some home automation devices that monitored power prices and they would atomatically turn on the washing machine and such when the prices went negatice + there was stuff to wash in the machine for example.

Stuff may happen but I would put replacing the module I lost to the source code to pretty high on the list of things that need fixing.

There is no way another person doesn't get emotionally invested in their role the only difference is your paying them to put up with your shit and pretend to be your ideal one.

That's a pretty bad deal for both to be honest the client gets a fake they may even fool themselves is real (as they did) and he basically goes through all the bad parts of a relationships without being able to complain.

I kind of agree with faking it to keep up appearances like fake weddings for a lesbian daughter or a fake father so the school doesn't complain about something that is none of their business to begin with since Japanese society is the way it is but long term fake boyfriends and the like can't be healthy.

Well apple has been cruising on past successes ever since Steve Jobs died in my opinion and it seemed to work just fine for them but they seem to be getting a bit lax in their QA these days.

Well that's the story of almost every major company though. They make a great splash become famous and big then they start slacking off and cutting corners to increase their profits as much as possible.

It takes quite a lot of conscious effort to not fall into this pitfall and not many companies can do it.

Why would optimising for the power users be wrong though? In most cases if it's good enough for the power users who tend to break things more often than regular people it is perfect for the regular users.

Quite the opposite if the focus too much on the regular users they might get too much noise and never notice issues in the more complex features that only power users tend to use.

You want the heavy users of your product sending in reports not the average Joe because he is less likely to even notice a issue.

Higher level features are less likely to be covered by tests and more likely to break just because of their complexity however you wont have many average people using them.
