It depends on your definition of "Life".
One can modify one's definition of Life so that a sufficiently sophisticated toaster is alive, or one can try to build a sufficiently sophisticated toaster, until our currently accepted definition of Life applies to it.
If Fairness equals same opportunities, then that implies it would only be "fair" (Fairness) to have a Eugenics program, resulting in every child born being of identically high IQ and other character traits, physical abilities, health and talents.
I am not arguing in favor or against Eugenics - just making an observation.
The way forward is sturdier masks that last "forever", with removable filters that can be sterilized in boiling water, exposure to the UVC in sunlight, drenching in household bleach or thorough washing with water and detergent.
This is exactly the way the Czech Republic is going, with several companies now churning out such masks and the government being the bigger buyer. Stockpiling billions of expiration-sensitive disposable masks is more expensive, compared to pre-distributing one reusable mask to every citizen.
But they give no scientific arguments for that. They simply voice an ill-argued opinion that basically amounts to that they do not BELIEVE in IgM antibodies for Bb s.l., even though the test objectively does show them in a large number of people diagnosed and treated for Borreliosis.
You're right about the quacks and the delusions. I have auto-immune issues after a Bb infection and after three years of high-dosed Doxycycline I still tested positive for IgM (active infection). Tested by a German state-accredited reference lab. I'm self employed and never asked for disability money, never kept going to doctors to try to solve the issue. I now have CFS and Rheumatoid Arthritis and when I stop taking Doxycycline (I try that all the time, I hate taking pills), I get severe neurological problems, such as incontinence and my breathing stops all the time and many other symptoms such as extreme tachycardia in rest, aggression etc. Something is wrong. Does Doxycycline manage my CNS inflammation or are there still spirochetes?

Coulomb forces are much weaker at the ends of highly elliptical nuclei. We've always assumed atomic nuclei are spherical. They are not. Iron nuclei have ends where the Coulomb forces are two orders of magnitude lesser than assuming a spherical shape would predict.

Actually we did expect that. 160-odd years ago, people started to suspect trouble ahead and many decades ago, the writing was clearly on the wall, scientifically speaking.
Exactly... The only issue is that many developers will prefer to get experienced in other languages, go with the times so to speak.
Delphi shines in so many ways - I tried to develop something in Go but I hit a brick wall with a sub-par editor (Visual Studio Code), all kinds of restrictions, no way to make halfway acceptable GUI apps, a slow runtime, a slow compiler, unacceptable formatting rules, totally hopeless. Rust has even worse issues. I considered C, C++, Java and PHP 7.3 but I'm basically forced into using Delphi again for a new major project.
I'd rather not use Delphi, since it's hard to find developers for it and investors won't like it. But there just aren't better or even acceptable alternatives for the type of development I do (3rd wave AI, building a graph database from scratch, processing TB's of data, dynamic visualisations etc.)
So the plan is to build all this unique functionality with Delphi and then, when I have something sellable, perhaps get it rewritten in Rust or something, when those tools have become better.
Even though I'm an old fogie and highly experienced with Delphi, I also do embedded dev. in C and have done so for decades, plus I recently built an enterprise-level PHP online store from scratch. I've been a vocal critic of Delphi for decades as well (even banned on Embarcadero's forums) and in 2019, I do not know of anything that compares to Delphi...

As to "Deep learning": The system should be able to learn unsupervised (autonomously) and the more high-quality data it sees, the better.
