6.6% of total government expenditure is significantly smaller than you tried to make it out to be. What are you trying to show with a per captia comparison its not paid as a % of the persons salary the person make 66k is probably paying less than $100 towards the military. It doesnt even make sense towards your original point as it gets paid out in times of peace.

You're trying to cherry pick this time in history before the US was a global superpower and compare it as if it supports your point. You have nothing to show that wars are being started for profit.

All the wars are clearly geopolitical in nature. In 2001 the defense budget didnt increase because politicians said we need to make more money in the defense industry and isreal needs more land. They said holy shit we just got attacked in New York we need to retaliate.

445 billion is tiny on the budget of the US government. your stat showing the increase in spending from 2001 to 2008 does nothing to support your narrative. Defense spending goes up after you're attacked wow shocking.

Money is spent on defense contracts regardless of an active war. There is no evidence that wars are being started to get an extra few hundred million in budget each year spread out across the entire industry.

They do write weapons companies direct checks through research and procurement contracts. No one cares because the amount is tiny. Its not this huge market being pumped like slopulists pretend it is. Politicians dont need to invest in defense companies to get rich they can invest in anything with their insider knowledge. Defense companies dont need a war to get government money.

"What's worse, you can just as easily run them under Windows' WSL. So what's the point of having Linux installed on your computer in the first place?". To me it doesn't matter if I am running an application in a slightly less efficient manner. The reason I run the app on linux is because i want control over my computer. You will never get that with Microsoft and Apple.

The fact that everything I want works well and the UI/UX is decades ahead is just a bonus.

I fully understand that I may be completely wrong but I just dont see that a lot of effort comes from outside a projects core maintainers. Its always a core maintainer group usually paid by some company doing 95% of the work and the patches contributed are localizations, small bug fixes and weird edge cases.

I'm not an open source maintainer so I could be completely off base here.

It seems to me as someone who wasn't paying attention to open source 10 or 20 years ago that its no longer a real community effort. Projects are maintained by their maintainers and get very little from the community. Commercial open source gets even less from the community. The only real value generated is corporate supported projects sharing with corporate supported projects. The average person is happy because they can also use these projects but ultimately they do nothing with it. The only people benefiting is the corporations that use this to build their products.

I dont know if this is a good thing or not. On paper it seems fine but there is something that feels wrong about it and I dont know exactly what.

what settings are you using? Game streaming from my PC to my steamdeck over ethernet for me feels like absolute shit. The quality gets destroyed every time i rotate the camera even on 1080p

Even taking into account all their fuckups majority of their content is accurate and well sourced. I dont know why people do this thing where they point to a few instances and then extrapolate that out.

Same for Datacenters, MAGA and a ton of other things. Algorithms are being abused to manipulate reality for people and people know it. But they still get swept up because it feels so real when you're reading hundreds of comments, seeing countless articles and posts and videos.

In an enterprise environment onedrive is perfectly fine. Yet so many developers think they're to good for it. They save their things outside of onedrive and low and behold they lose data. Its so dumb and im yet to hear a good reason why they couldnt have used onedrive.

Its not up to any of us to be able to stop or police this behavior. It doesnt come from our community even if a subset of those users overlap. I can run the most strict community where this behavior is stomped out but users can still create a KF account and partake in this behavior elsewhere. Ultimately people should not open themselves up to the internet if they are sensitive to these results. There are very cruel people who will dedicate their lives to destroying you but the target need to keep feeding them.

Most people already understand and empathize with people going through a mental health crisis and dont provoke them.
