IANAL, but it looks like he might have a case for prior art, if he published his methods prior to patent being issued.

http://www.ipwatchdog.com/inventing/prior-art/

Still, this puts the burden of proof on the person claiming prior art. I'd like to see a reform of patent law that would make the infringing patent holder responsible for the legal fees for proving the prior art, if it's valid.

That would:

1. Force the potential infringer to do a more rigorous search prior to filing the patent.

2. Gives the person with prior art a little more leverage in negotiations.

Am I misguided?

I used "secret", probably shouldn't have.

The article I referenced says that it varies by state, especially with regards to consent. Some states are single-party, some states require all party consent.

But if you're on the street in public, you'd think everything is fair game... especially if you're a public servant.

It's nice to see someone taking a stand and clearing it up (in one state at least).

If anyone is interested in building one of these for their toddler, there is a great pattern located here: http://crumleydotorg.chattablogs.com/archives/038834.html

I used the above pattern to build 2 of them for my 2.5 year old twins... they love them and have great balance now.

Here's how mine turned out: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/113513/bikes.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/113513/bike1.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/113513/bike2.jpg

I broke-even in price, it cost approx. $60/bike which is what it costs to get a similar "elmo" bike at target: http://www.target.com/Elmos-Beginner-Bike/dp/B00155X3UI

If you're going to break the bank, it's going to be b/c you couldn't find cheap wheels. This is where I went wrong, since I spent about $11 per wheel at home depot. I later found them for $4 at a smaller local hardware shop. ;p

You don't lose your home if the bank goes out of business. Mortgage holdings are sold off as assets as part of the bankruptcy settlement. The ownership of the underlying mortgage changes, not the ownership of the home.

Give them the option of filling in the CC info and provide a "Do it later" button?

It would be interesting to see how the conversation rate differed between the group that filled in the information immediately and those that opted for later.

stunnel is also a nice way to debug ssl connections when you only control one side of the connection: http://www.stunnel.org/examples/

As a client, you would stunnel local:389 to remote:636. As a server you would stunnel local:636 to local:389.

Then you can sniff on the unencrypted port with wireshark, etc.

Thanks for the pointer to detours.

If the "deleted" files didn't count towards your total usage percentage, someone was eventually going to game the system and use the "deleted" area for storage and undelete things as they needed them. The 2G of total space becomes swap for the deleted file storage area ;)

30 days seems kind of short though.
