This article is pure garbage. Here are some of its sins: * It says that SQL was introduced in 1974 and could be used for web applications (the web was invented in 1989). * Then it calls AI “Artistical Intelligence”. * And it never even talks about the topic of its title: what’s next for SQL.

Unless you’re using Internet Explorer, every browser works on every site. I’ve never had Chrome installed even as a backup. Have yet to find a site that doesn’t work on Firefox.

I have the all black GW-2310FB. I’ll be honest, the gray digits on black background can be a little impractical in low light (it does have a very good backlit if you press the button). But it looks awesome and I have no regrets. Love it. Has anyone here tried to read that book (Superintelligence)? I found it impossible to get through it. The author drones on and on seeming to try to reach a high word count as some sort of academic pompous goal and takes so long to make a point that I didn’t stick around for the ending. Incidentally, I have a free copy for anyone that likes lots of words.

I realize this is unrelated to the blog post but it is related to Carbon… If you are creating an off-ramp language from C++ wouldn’t you keep the syntax as close to C++ as possible? The syntax looks like it would be more familiar to a Rust developer than a C++ developer.

Firefox is the best browser in many respects. But even if it wasn’t. Even if it was missing extensions, used all my RAM and chewed my CPU, I would still choose it over Chrome. Because using a browser from the world’s biggest advertiser is wrong on principle. And using an ad blocker (I don’t use one) while using a browser made by an advertiser is next level cognitive dissonance.

E2ee services are the only sane hosted solution. I use sync.com and find it works as well as Dropbox. There are other ones but I haven’t tried them.

While I fully agree that the name is terrible (maybe we should start open sourcing product names?), the name is “Xournal++”, not “Xournalpp++”. The title here is wrong.

I won’t use a drive service that is not e2ee. My files are my own business. There are multiple alternatives out there like sync.com (no, I’m not affiliated with them).

How about the built in Firefox password manager? You can (optionally) sync across devices and set it as the password store in iOS (probably Android too).

I understand it is e2ee but not the iCloud backup which means for most people it might as well not be encrypted.

iMessage could be great except it falls back to SMS when the other phone is Android or there is no data network available. Also you lose the privacy once your messages are backed up to iCloud.
