Agreed. I think the code examples in the article could do with showing before and after states of the branch or repo and maybe compare with standard git commands.

Even then I don't think the abstraction to HTTP verbs is necessarily a useful one as web requests and version control are two different mental models.

I think OP has envisioned a situation half way between what we now have and what will soon be the actual reality and that his idea will just be quickly skipped over.

I don't think website design will go away, but I do expect that people will soon be ordering products and booking holidays through AI chats instead of doing it themselves, which will require the kind of manifests he's talking about, but will skip the UI layer completely.

I had this problem and it turned out to be an upstream issue with MicroG which was eventually patched. If you have an error message you can search for existing issues on /e/OS' gitlab/forum.

Revolut stopped working for me for a while with the error that the bootloader wasn't recognised and rooted phones aren't supported. After about a month an OS update solved it.

My browser auto-declines cookies so I also had the same thought. On reloading I can briefly see a pop-over with a lot of text in it before it disappears, so I guess that is the cookie game I initially missed.

I've tried VS Code and Haystack (based on VS Code) for writing PHP and I just couldn't stand it after having used PhpStorm. Basic things like copying variables, indenting, moving lines into if statements, multiple cursors etc. just aren't intuitive in VS Code when writing PHP and a lot of the things I can do in PhpStorm with the press of a button just aren't possible.

I really hope they move PhpStorm to the same payment model as Rider so I can also use it for my own non-work projects.

I had a very similar experience when changing my email address. I went through my password manager to update my accounts and ended up liberally deleting all the accounts I don't use regularly. I honestly found it to be very 'freeing' and therapeutic.

The arguments in the article seem to basically boil down to 'I stopped using Spotify because I didn't like how I was using it' and 'I stopped using Spotify because I assign value to music outside of listening to it'. In both cases I don't think Spotify is really the issue.

Because "I can't find any printers" suggests that printing is possible if only you set up your printer correctly, rather than suggesting the print function doesn't work.

By showing that no printers can be found the app is misleading the user to think there's an issue external to the app that they need to solve themselves.

I wouldn't call creating mystery failing gracefully. As a user I would prefer a full crash to the application gas lighting me by suggesting there's something wrong with my setup (we can't find your printer vs you're not allowed to print).

If anything creating mystery about what the app is doing is the direct opposite of good UX.
