Yeah thats a nice xmldict you wrote there, except it doesnt do anything good at all. Try to parse this with it, <html>hello</lol>world</html>. So much for your A* search and algorithmic knowledge.

I am no good with algorithms but would know to stop at such an idea as to make my own xmldict parser in that way. I would instead learn about parsing and the algorithms for successful parsing, instead of a half-assed approach.

The web site repels me as a GNU/Linux user. It seems to be designed only for people who own iProducts and own a license to adobe photoshop.

SSH tricks 14 years ago

Are you being sarcastic? How could one not know that ssh could do these things? Have you been using it instead of telnet?

What is this zero knowledge you mention?

Seems quite a marketing lie, zero knowledge, while you really want _all_ the knowledge about all my sensors, and the way I use your product. While I get no knowledge of how your servers work and what you do with it.

Yeah I remember it back in the beginnings, it was quite friendly. Now I see people get yelled at in #archlinux for having an opinion on x vs y which is opposite of what the majority of #archlinuxers think. The forums are like "not my problem fix it noob, here is half a wiki page"

I like pypy and its ambitions, last time I tested it, about a month ago it was very speedy and startup time considerable faster than Cpython. However the regex exercises I wanted to do couldnt be done. Pypy seemingly didnt have a good regexp engine. If I remember correctly, something with groups and backwards-reference...

Has that changed?

One wall garden to buy another walled garden? Whats the point? We need to disrupt the movie, tv and music business. We need to tear down the wall.

This is not a generational issue, this same kind of political issue has existed in all times in various forms. It is an issue of power and control, power to control distribution channels and who may produce what and when.

Or framed in a better way, before the internet it was about the radio and before that it was about the telegram. The radio was not allowed to be free, pirate stations where setup all over the place and there was a movement for free radio. It was in the spirit of that time to go for the controlled option, laws where setup to prevent independent broadcasters, without the many small radio broadcasters input to the law.

The issue is not the same, it is very similar, It is not a generational issue.

Baby boomers made the internet, baby boomers where the hippies, they are not clueless about internet or freedom. Intelligent people make you think they are stupid.

Finally someone gets it. Boycott is the only way forward in this messed situation.

Stop buying movies/music, PCs and Apple computers, there is a fine list of SOPA proponents. For all of them there is an alternative, buy operating support from RedHat or Canonical instead of Microsoft, donate money to independent studios and watch their movies.

Your money is doing this. Your money. You decide what to do with it. Each dollar is a vote.

Theft - you take something from someone. Result: You have something, someone else does not have that same thing which you just took from them. That is called theft.

Piracy/Copyright-infrigiment - you copy something from someone. Result: You both have that same thing, in digital world, it is exactly to the bit the same. In analog world the someone has the original while your copy will probably be a bit different and unique. Nobody is left without having stuff.

I was more impressed by wikipedias wording and action than googles.

Googles message is very technical.

Wikipedia strikes the heart, the black imagery, the background. Its perfect. It really feels how bad it would be without a free internet. Google feels like a minor political detail in Washington that is going down. A very tiny link on the google.com page which few people will see, and I havent seen it anywhere else, despite what HNs say that it should be in the logo and what not. Its not.

Google fail, this is the least they could have done.

Why the need for these "how to configure" this and that when it can be as simple as runthisnowdamnit.py using gunicorn or cherrypy? Or you know, some other server which doesnt require learning and blogging about its configuration and various options it can be set up? Sure that might come in handy, when or rather if you ever face millions of users/load problems.

Wasnt the point of a web application framework that you could put it anywhere and type run and have it done, instead of having to think of process- or event- or thread- based serving and static files? Thats not python. Even php is simpler/better in this regard.

Its not so difficult to run an instance of a threaded/process/eventlet server and let your app do the work.

Language changes and the world changes, the students need current examples and language they understand. Thats why revisions and new books and new examples are needed, but not at the pace which publishers lash out "editions" today, just to run after short term profits.

Its a last run by publishers to it milk as much as possible before their market dries up from the influence of the digital world, where editions are a wikipedia changesets.
