I've been working with Hubs for a couple of years now, and it's been really great for our particular needs. It's easy to setup and deploy your own virtual world on a custom domain, it's all open source so it's easy to re-skin / add features on top of, and the Hubs community discord is very active and helpful. We're using it in a couple of ways:

1) Building virtual venues for social organizations to meet and host workshops in. Youth groups etc. are having a very difficult time adapting to remote first environments, and having a space to gather and have a sense of identity has proven valuable to them. 2) Browser based live theatre is also something we've been exploring in our collaboration with On Board, a rotating anthology of short virtual performances by experimental creators. There's a show coming up next week if you want to check it out [1]!

We could be doing the same thing on a 3rd party platform live VR Chat or Horizons, but the open source nature of Hubs means that we a lot more agency over user privacy & security, as well as the ability to add and modify the stack as needed.

It's still early days for us, but we're building a business on top of Hubs and are getting really positive feedback from our customers.

My understanding is that they laid off their WebXR team in 2020.

The Hubs team has been consistently shipping new features, and just posted 3X new roles a couple weeks ago.

There's some overlap here with the therapy technique called EMDR (used to treat acute PTSD). Both EMDR and the Tetris study involve thinking about the traumatic event while experiencing bilateral stimulation.

Studies on bilateral stimulation look really promising as a tool to manage trauma:

I read their question as: "Are the images I uploaded private? Will they be used to train ML systems or sold to a 3rd party without my knowledge?".

X Minus One is great! A friend of mine runs "Retrostrange" - a radio station that plays old sci-fi shows and often features it. I find it really relaxing to throw it on in the background while I work.

I've played around with some of Looking Glass's earlier prototypes and was impressed with the effect. It's one of those technologies like VR - very different in-person than seeing it in a video.

If you read the full filing[0] you can see that there's plenty of gross stuff in there. Telling a female co-worker that you have a hard on because of her, that you can't concentrate and are going to go "rub one out" to clear your head isn't appropriate in a work environment. I sure wouldn't like something like that directed at me.
