The answer is very simple. They do not want technology from other countries that would benefit this one to gain a foothold. It has NOTHING to do with safety. It's all about restricting technology from one region to another. For instance, at the beginning of the scamdemic an online radio stream out of HI (all of them) stopped working. The reason? They for no reason at all started fencing off the internet based on region alone, and that was for narrative control. IE, population control. But then again, if one isn't already aware of the ridiculous restrictions there are in our so called Land of the Free, you aren't paying attention. A friendly reminder from your handlers in the oil industry.

On the face of it it's a terrible idea. Adding complexity, BT, to a construction workers table saw. I mean, you can't just add BT to every expensive tool to begin with. This will cause more problems than it solves. It'd be much simpler to simply remove items from display that are prone and leave just empty boxes. The look but don't touch approach kinda like they already do in a lot of places. Really it's a just a lazy attempt at theft deterrence. Considering HD likes to buy in bulk and so receives and then sells a generally inferior product (simple to do), makes perfect sense.

"Why is there no high quality method for voice control of a PC?" For the same reason there's no standardized encryption for everyone's comms. Or, 'Why is there no software for gps that works on pc's that is easy and readily available?'. Same reason.

There is a voice assistant ap for Android that uses vosk called Dicio (f-droid). Storage is cheap and easy. Processing power is there even in cheap 3rd world phones. I personally detest typing and would love to talk to my devices without any 3rd party nonsense requirements. Truly there is none because the powers that be do not want everyone thinking they are in control, essentially of anything.

My uncle used to work for McDonnell Douglas and regaled me with stories of people standing around or hanging out in the parking lot, basically getting payed to do jack all. At the time he told me this, almost 40 yrs ago now, they were in a slump and were laying off. Nepotism in the hiring practice was prevalent. I would have fired him, personally. Needless to say one can expect most "industries" to be very similar.
