Ok if they pay extra tax for the extra health costs they will incur.
That video by Ben Jordan is emotionally convincing but it makes no solid case for any of its claims.
I perfer the term maker because its descriptive without the commercial aspect.
The US has been on a far better environmental trajectory for the past 15 years than China. Since the first climate change conferences emission growth has been significantly reducing compared with china significantly increasing. Thats with 8 years of trump.
They are installing some renewables and some non renewables. The scale of the non renewables is far larger than their non renewables. The damage being down completely outweighs the solar they've installed. Its good they're finally starting to do something but its about 15 years to late.
ok and in 2025 they installed more coal than the US and EU has in total whats your point?
Its only falling per Chinese gov data. The trend since 2019 is for them to downplay emission data and when the next international review comes around we'll have seen that it was actually increasing for the past 3 years and everything will be revised and they will say oh its decreasing starting from now and everyone will forget that the gov stats were lying and take their word that its decreasing.
China is not rapidly de-carbonizing. They've put off even starting to transition to clean energy by 15 years and they lag behind the other nations. They shouldnt be where the US is as the US has done an awful job. They should be where the EU is.
Its impossible because I could point to anything or refer to history and the complexities of work and you would say "in the future there is a magic technology that could automate it" and it would be impossible to disprove that.
There exists to many complex things in the world and we cannot do it all ourselves. We work so that we have something of value to trade to the people who do the work on the things we want.
We will never automate all work so we with half of humanity doing nothing of value it will be a struggle for the people who do nothing of value to convince people to do work for them.
We can see it now where products dont target the people without money. There is no point because they cant give you any reward so instead you do your work for the people that can give you something in return. We can use the government to stimulate and balance this a bit but at a certain point the number gets to high and things collapse.
Basic privacy from the government?
Whats wrong with government control? We let the government control most aspects of our lives.
American Tech companies hate their users
Given that its society that invests in them during development and has to pick them up when they're broken its only fair to also nudge towards a preemptive solution. The economics of people dying needlessly in their 20s is worth the intervention.
When it comes to online actions people ask for way more than reasonable. You dont get to be an invisible, impossible to track, unaccountable hacker man free to roam the internet on equal footing to the rest of the users.
But because you were cheating you'd be above your level. So there would be a mismatch somewhere. You'd need to vastly improve your aim to compensate for bad game sense or use wall hacks to compensate for bad map awareness. Either way its not to hard for people to notice if they watch a replay. Not many cheaters are doing tiny adjustments because that would suggest they're already at that skill level.
it hasn’t stopped cheating
No but it has largely reduced it to where you can play competitively and not run into cheaters. Go play f2p csgo and enjoy a hacker in nearly every single game blatantly spinning in spawn head shotting everyone.
the value of labor will collapse so we cant use current earning figures. China will be able to spend to undermine it even more.
The commies are a smaller voice these days and can be easily filtered out.
This is what I want for my ideal vision for the internet but I just dont trust any of the major players to be the ones to implement this. The internet is going to get so much worse.
Dont have friends, simple as
I had little opinion on .zip but this convinced me to go figure out how to block .zip tld. Why would someone risk all those attack vectors when there is so much available on the many other tlds. I could see myself getting caught by many of them.
Most of the time its just low labour costs and no environmental reg. Its really that simple
Yes neither are free markets
You're getting swept up in a narrative that doesn't reflect reality. Public surveillance cameras and "petty regulation" are not authoritarian. The UK has a crime problem and these are needed to maintain some sense of public order, the government is democratically elected and the people are not opposed to these nor is there any wide spread abuse of this.
What internet privacy? Look at the sites this is being enforced on and tell me with a straight face you have privacy accessing those. Even for sites like X i'd argue truly anonymous users are horrible to have. Users should be accountable for what they say online in common public spaces. You want free speech and anonymity go to those spaces not facebook and X.
Ah webpage formatting cooked but otherwise a fun read
Im so sick of Steve Jobs and apple glaze. You like it because marketing targeted at you. It was no more slick than other products at the time and worked no better. You liked it because the company threw money at a very successful marketing campaign. These people are not nerds they are extreme outliers and not much different to the CEOs of today.
China isnt "all open source" they still keep their top models out of the public view. Its easy to "open source" models when they're so far behind very few will pay for them.
Open source in quotes because they are not open source and not even close to open source.
