I honestly hope that Facebook is banned so that all the events and organizational stuff can go to a more open and honest platform.

It's going to be really interesting if the new startup EV companies will eventually win out in market share or if the older automotive companies will manage to pivot first. Feels like Tesla at this point is almost a lifestyle brand which changes the dynamics somewhat.

I believe that this is a key part of a sustainable future in terms of climate impact but I really don't know if we have what it takes to pull off a project of this size. It's interesting that it seems like these type of large infrastructure projects were more on schedule and feasible a century ago.

I have always wondered if the increasing technical complexity of the world and the bugs it will bring is faster than the efforts of bughunters/security industry. Often times it feels like a losing battle but I would love to see some research on the subject, might be hard to get any solid data however.

I have always wondered about how exploits like these manage to stay secret for any length of time? I would imagine that leaking such a thing could he very rewarding but I guess there is too much risk involved.

I think our field is so broad that it is somewhat nebolous to talk about the average engineer. But from my experience taking car of such a large system with a large amount of requests and complexity is outside of what is expected of an average engineer. I think that there is an eventual limit for how much complexity a single engineer can handle for several years.

What would be the benefit of using this compared to something like Sumatra?

What is the history of the Hello World example program? I'm not sure why it's become this defacto example of syntax for every language. Maybe there is something else we could use as an example that would be more indicative of syntax but perhaps I'm overthinking it.

I have been struggling with scope creep for deadlines at my work, I am a junior dev and I have a product owner that means well but changes requirements several times and increases scope mid sprint. How do you push back against this in a nice and reasonable manner?

I've often found that asking things about the recruiters experience at the company itself is very enlightening when it comes to evaluating how it would be to work at the company. Questions like "What has been your worst day working for x company?" are sometimes a bit harsh but if you can fit them into the conversation they're great.

I understand what you mean, sometimes I also get frustrated at the companies advertising their codeless service. I think that you have to realize that most likely you are not the target audience for these products. They are simplification tools that tend to break at some point of complexity where you are forced into the nitty gritty anyway. I think this might even be a reaction to the "Everyone should learn to code" type initiatives.

How big is the added risk of toxic waste? I'm not sure how much waste is produced in relation to propulsion energy given but it must be quite small? And I imagine that during travel in space you could just dump that waste out into space considering the vastness of it all.

I wonder if these types of leaks will ever stop, the amount of companies out there that store large amounts of data is endless and I feel like it's bound to happen to a person in their lifetime if they engage with society in a normal way. This is a major problem in the very connected society that we have today and I see no clear solution barring very heavy fines to encourage security but I'm not sure how well that would go, does anyone have data on this?

I wonder how much overhead you can lose when you don't have to have a cashier in a grocery store. I've thought about a grocery store that essentially doesn't have a warehouse section but instead is just a combined warehouse/store. I'm sure this already exists and I wonder how you handle the large pieces of machinery that you need to move the goods among regular shoppers?

I love these old looking very personal type of sites. It feels like in the age of SEO optimization these sites often get lost in the search engine results. I have always found these sites to have a surprisingly high amount of quality content that is hard to find anywhere else.

It's always interesting reading about the DevOps Patterns that the FAANG companies use. Not sure how well they fare at the scale of companies that I am at though.
