I can verify that this process is accurate for US companies. I did the same thing late last year. Make sure you use Apple's form to apply for your DUNS number.

This is just one guy complaining about how The App Store search didn't help HIS timer app. They didn't interview the guys who built the other timer apps that show up first in the search results
Do these "Plagiarize Other Apps to Try To Make a Quick Buck" articles make anyone else throw up a little?
