To any that feel the need to hide or disparage this because it seems to promote doing things on your own vs in the cloud, this isn’t some tech ops Total Money Makeover where you read a book and you’re suddenly in some sort of anti-credit cult. This is hard shit, and it’s the basics of the hard shit that I grew up with as being the only shit.

Yes, you can serve your own data. No one should fault you for doing that if you want. It takes the humble intelligence of the core team and everyone at IA to pull that off at this scale. If you don’t want to do the hard things, you could use the cloud. There are financial reasons also for one or the other, just as there are reasons people live with their family, rent, lease, and buy homes and office space- an imperfect analogy of course.

I hope that some of the others that could go on to work at the big guys or have been working there and want a challenge consider applying to IA when there’s an opening. They’ve done an incredible job, and I look forward to the cool things they accomplish in the future.

Also- the strange parts of the chip spell DDB, which may be relevant, as the V DDB is mentioned in one of the MAU design patents. Or DDB possibly could be the initials of the team or designers. It could have also served a practical purpose.

The internet enabled an explosion of growth of useful data and communication.

Changing the currency system just because the old one wasn’t broken enough is not a good idea.

That’s what I’ve heard. They may lead you on to keep you on the hook in case they need you without even getting work from you. This isn’t really a scam; it’s just about them wasting your time. And there are so many suckers that they can be picky about who they do this to.

If you really want to freelance or have a startup, you have to be able to differentiate these people from legit opportunities. That can be extremely difficult; someone that seems like a scammer could be ready to pay a great rate or invest in your company; someone else that sounds legit could be wasting your time.

When you sign up for a variable rate loan and default, you should not sue.

The provider in question was providing a service at a variable rate. It had to have been clearly part of the terms.

Who to blame are the regulators. Variable rate loans shouldn’t be allowed and neither should this variable rate wholesale crap.

But suing someone over a bill in a class-action suit? Do you think the consumers will all get refunded fully? The law firm will get that money.

This is a good example of overlitigiousness.

Now, if Mozilla would allow Firefox to be configured such that it doesn’t call home or update itself in any way, that would be nice also, as I don’t see why Mozilla needs to know about me either.

In the US there is no academy, to my knowledge. It’s another word for school.

That’s not the point of higher education.

Their jobs are to instruct. As part of that these other roles developed and became expected.

However, like healthcare, privatization got to a point where the money made a difference more than the research and other roles. This is not a failure of capitalism, business, or anything of that sort; it was just a problem of taking things that were considered important out of the equation, because they were not understood or justified; and we’re allowed to scratch our heads over this and wonder why, but it’s simply that it happened; things sometimes fail.

Should we guard against this?

Probably, yes.

Could it be crowdsourced?

Probably, yes.
