thats encouraging to hear - it seems like huge problems in the US are starting to force a change towards harm reduction, i think it's vermont where it's really out of control and they're changing laws a little bit, for example, if an addict calls an ambulance for someone who overdosed, then they won't be arrested or charged for drug offences

it was a huge problem in NL that brought about a change there - i'd say the solution was born out of need rather than being a moral thing

i'm not sure they live on the streets or not - but i think it's safe to say that the heroin problem is holland is being dealt with and in norway it's out of control - last figures i saw were 17k dutch addicts with 12k in treatment, no idea how norway stacks up though

that article says that the dutch want to close 19 prisons due to lack of prisoners, but there are not enough prisons in norway

yeah i saw one guy overdosed when i was there - some countries are providing police and even addicts family members with Anti-Overdose Drugs

seems they can be given as a nasal spray so safer than injections - when people are not medically trained

i was in oslo & amsterdam recently and the difference in junkie on the street levels was staggering - much much higher in oslo where drug laws are harsher.

i imagine this is a reasonable factor in amounts of prisoners in the two countries, though haven't checked data on percentage of prisoners who are heroin addicts.

in the 3rd world people can't afford drugs so tend to go for the family option

the problem i'm describing is that some sites are legal overseas but not here - if this proxy also bypasses cleanfeed there could be problems - well i imagine what would happen is that it'd get added to the list of banned urls

the cost and the possibility of prosecution for supplying illegal material are two obvious downsides to this - keep in mind that uk law makes bestiality porn highly illegal for instance, whereas it's legal or easily available in other parts of the world - and also something that people are sometimes curious about

there was a show on tv in the UK about working conditions at their distribution centres which was really damning - a psychologist saying they'd combined all the worst practices

with that in mind, i'd say automating more of the order picking process would be better PR - seems like this might damage books but pc component suppliers for instance sometimes have totally automated picking, so may be possible to automate for more robust items

the only other caution i'd give anyone contemplating this regards quality control - you can't always count on the manufacturer to make sure everything is ok before they ship to amazon for instance, i'd recommend supervising the manufacturing process if you can, i met a photographer who had a large run of art books printed in the far east, he basically slept in the factory during the print run, every 2-4 hours they would wake him and he'd check the printing - it was a few days or a few weeks for the whole job 24/7

or i guess have an agreement with the printer that they will reprint and ship any defective items at their own cost.

how are you using Amazon for shipping? i know they fulfill for people selling via them, do they handle fulfillment for others?

looks good, the thing i dread with higher sales is getting calculations wrong and ending up thousands in the hole, but i guess there are ways round that :)

the idea of money flowing towards stability and away from instability is one worth toying with, in my opinion.
