Yeah that's obviously not great but that video is nothing like what you described. You made it sound like it drove onto a mainline train track with a train barreling down the tracks that couldn't stop with the guy diving out of the car to avoid getting clobbered. It did not, it got stuck on a tram track. Not quite the same thing.

I don't understand this logic. The vast majority of people don't care what version of Windows they're running. They'll just keep running Windows 10 without a care in the world. Just like they keep running Windows 7.

I'm surprised to say but the latest Samsung interface and remote is quite good. Good enough I feel no need to put an Apple TV on it (which happens to have an awful remote).

Presumably there is a lot of management being laid off as well that managed those 3,500 people. There probably isn't enough HR to manage that volume of layoffs 1:1. No point in dragging it out over multiple days, dealing with rumors, etc.
I watched the call in the article. Given the severance they're getting I think they did the most humane thing possible.

They're not that uncommon. You can do this with SQLAlchemy in Python or jOOQ in Java.

Inefficiency and lack of centralization in government may have indeed been a plan of the US government that worked at its founding, but at some point we have to re-evaluate and find a balance between decentralization and efficiency.
This one thing I've thought about. People seem to assume it's bureaucracy within government that's the issue when really it's bureaucracy among government.
At a minimum there's Federal, State, County, Municipal. Then you might have other specially formed districts for transportation or whatnot. There's no "the government". There's many governments and trying to get them all to agree on a coordinated plan for anything beyond the status quo seems next to impossible. The Bay Area is a perfect example of this. It's all one region. For all intents and purposes municipalities are pointless. It's just one giant organism. But some counties didn't want to join BART, some are more NIMBY, some don't want to construct housing, and so on.
Could anybody familiar with other better functioning countries maybe compare this system to one that is known to work better?

How has this not been a scandal? The hospital, owned by the city, is fleecing its own citizens. The incentives are so perverse.
This is one reason why people in the middle to lower middle class resent the system. The system will only take care of you if you are indigent. If you're upper class you're wealthy enough to take care of your own problems. Of course I think their grievance ends up being that somebody else got something they didn't instead of demanding they receive the same benefits (affordable healthcare).

It's my understanding that 5G will also be used in the 600mhz spectrum at least by T-Mobile so will have the longer range with improved bandwidth and latency of 5G.
